2nd Trimester

any nurses

So wondering if you have upgraded to maternity scrub pants or are you using a belly band to hold the darn things up?  I bend and squat for 12 hrs strait and I'm getting to the point where my butt is always hanging out; not cool.  So I wanted some feedback.  Girl I worked with suggest a belly/bella band, I went strait from normie jeans to maternity cuz I wear low rise and didn't want my bum hanging out, so I never got one.

So what did you do?

Re: any nurses

  • So far all my pants still fit, except one of my smaller pairs.  Unfortunately nobody seems to make maternity scrubs in my mandatory scrub color.  I think I will buy some of those button up scrub tops and just wear them open with a t-shirt underneath when I can't fit my regular tops any more.  I don't know what I'll do about pants.  Someone suggested I have some altered with a belly panel.  I hate to spend a bunch of money for something I will probably wear for just a few months or less.  I'll have to check out the bella band idea.  I also went straight to maternity jeans.

  • I bought maternity scrub pants in the last week or so and they are a lifesaver.  I was getting abdominal pain from my other ones being too tight.  Even though they are still I little bit big they are much more comfortable.  I say do it! Smile

  • I have been able to wear the regular ones up to this point but only because they have an elastic waist and I am wearing them lower.  I can't imagine being able to go much more than a few more weeks before having to switch to maternity ones.

As far as jeans go, I've been in maternity jeans for about 6 weeks now.... only because I also wear the low rise and the bella band was not doing it's job like I wanted it to.  I felt I was constantly adjusting it.

  • I was a CNA when pg with DD. I never needed maternity scrubs. I just bought a few in the next size up.

  • Definitely bought two pairs the next size up. Our ER makes us wear a mandatory color, so there wasn't too much I could do about it. And I ended up wearing them even on my days off, because they were comfortable. So, you'll get your monies worth.
  • just got bigger sizes.

  • I find the draw string waist pants to be more forgiving. Also, does your hospital provide scrubs to any departments like L & D or OR? At the hopsital I work at it is acceptable for pregnant employees to "borrow" the hospital's scrubs when our own start to get too tight as long as we bring them back in the end.

  • Last pregnancy I just bought bigger scrubs.  I wore the pants for quite awhile but then had to go up a size.  I never even tried on maternity scrub pants so I have no idea what they would be like.  This time I work in surgery and I have just been wearing the bigger scrubs they provide.

  • I work in L&D and even though we have a mandatory scrub color, we are able to wear the hospital grade scrubs if our scrubs get too tight.  So far, I have been able to wear my same pants since they are elastic waist (I just wear them below the belly) with a white maternity shirt and colored scrub jacket (the jacket is no where close to buttoning) ha!

  • The store where I get all my uniforms does not carry maternity scrub pants..and when I looked online I didn't want to pay that much.

I did what PP's have said and bought a larger size (actually two sizes up so I'd have room to grow into them..lol). Right now they are still plenty big so I have to fold over the waistband, but I shouldn't have to worry about outgrowing them as it nears the end.

  • I bought some cheap scrub bottoms which tie at the waist. I hate them really because they only have one small pocket in back and the do still kind of fall down at times.
