Angle of the Dangle

At my first u/s, the tech said that during the NT scan she could do the "angle of the dangle". DH does not want to know the sex and I've always been on the fence. But when she asked us today I was like "yes, please write it down". She did and put it in an envelope....I was surprised to see her prediction. Anyone else ever do this or think about participating in this theory?

This website describes a whole lot better than I would but basically "The determination is made by studying the angle between the genital 'bump' and the direction of the lower portion of the spine".

I've never heard of this but found it interesting! Can anyone see anything on the pic in my siggy? I see what I think is the umbilical corb but nit sure I can see the nub they are talking about!

From the pics I saw on the site it looks like female but I can be wrong!

After I posted this I went and re-read the website and thought hey- that looks like the girl angle too! We'll see in 6 more months, we are team green so technically I shoulsn't be reading into this, huh? Thanks for your post

We had our NT scan on Wednesday and I was totally shocked when she asked if we wanted to know the sex! She said not go buy anything blue, but that she was VERY confident that is was a boy! We were told I was measuring exactly 13 weeks (which makes my due date September 28th but I want to stay here

). I asked her how she could tell and she pointed out the femurs and the little penis in between the legs, the shot was sort of from below. So I guess go team blue!

They asked us this at our NT scan yesterday as well. We had a "dangle" and she said that when it points away from the body, it's a girl, and inward is a boy, if I'm getting that right. She thinks ours is a girl (so does my OB nurse from where we're carrying) and I've always "felt" it was a girl. I won't be buying anything gender related until we know for sure, but it's fun to hear their early opinions!

I've always felt this little dancer was a boy. All my posts always referenced him as he. Well, her prediction today was a girl. I was shocked but still very excited! But like you, I have to take a with a grain of salt because she told me it's a 70% chance. Just so crazy and amazing!

I asked my tech about the "angle of the dangle" and she wouldn't do it. She said that it isn't something that she has seen to be really correct and refused. She totally shut me down!

People told me to ask today at our NT scan but I did not want them to tell me and get it wrong. I would rather know when they are more confident which will be in 6 weeks. I can wait!

I asked my tech and was shut down completely too. I told her that Ive heard stories of the tech guessing the sex even though it wasn't completely accurate and she didn't even respond. I guess i have to wait another 7 weeks to find out the sex of my baby too. Oh WELL!!!!!

I suppose there could be some truth to it, but the error rate just seems WAY too high to me. I don't think I've ever heard someone say that they were told they were having a girl at their NT scan, and the reason is because all babies at that age pretty much look like they have a penis.

Personally, I think I'll stick to the results at the anatomy scan.

If I look at the pics of my NT scan and use this theory, it looks like a girl! We'll see!! My tech wasn't able to tell me! She said it was way too early to tell, plus LO was kicking and jumping around like crazy during the scan. The tech could barely take pics of it.
