Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

DD waking earlier than usual and not napping - qn.

DD has been down to one nap since she turned a year old, and it was about 2-3 hrs long. She also slept at night for about 12 hrs straight.

We did move 3 weeks ago, and she was doing "normal" after the move, but in the last week she's been only taking ONE 30 minute nap in the day, and sleeping only about 10 hrs overnight.

This lack of sleep is resulting in a cranky Hailey, so I'd like to fix this. Any ideas?

  • DD went through this for about....10 days? Two weeks? It sucked, but I think it was because she has 4 teeth coming in at once. Last night she slept 13 hours, and I'm hoping she's back to her 3 hour nap today. GL mama!

  • What time is her wake up & nap start?  What time are you doing bedtime?  In my experience and from advice I've rec'd....early bedtime (even 30min -1hr) to make up from sleep loss and it could be teething or she might be needing earlier or later nap.

We are going to try an earlier nap and bedtime, hopefully that will do something.

I don't think she's teething because she has no other of her typical teething signs, but it's possible.

She was sleeping from about 9:30 pm - 10 am, and napping from about 1:30 pm - 4 pm. I know, those are later than usual sleep patterns for 1 year olds, but it was working so well for us for the last 6 months.

I guess if she has to go to bed earlier (and wake earlier), at least she'll be not cranky?

I just noticed our DDs are about two weeks apart :) Maybe there's some 17-month-old sleep regression going on. DD *normally* sleeps 8pm-9/9:30, and naps from 1:30-4 (sometimes 4:30!).

Interesting! I hope it is just a phase, cause it's not enough sleep for her!
