Is anyone still drinking coffee?

My doctor said that it's totally fine to keep drinking coffee as long as I keep it to two cups a day.

I have switched to half caff.. and I'm just wondering what others have decided to do.

I used to drink a travel mug (equiv to 2 cups of coffee) of regular coffee every day.

Now i'm drinking a travel mug of half caff every day.

Has anyone else gotten the okay to have coffee from their doctors?

  • Yep! Keeping it to 1-2 smallish cups a day.

  • I still drink an iced coffee or a frappe a few times a week:)  My Dr. says that it is fine.

  • Yes I am, when I called my OB's office to make my first appointment I asked.  They said I was fine to have 1-2 cups a day.  So I just cut out the afternoon cup I would sometimes have.

  • Once cup every morning.

  • One cup in the AM

  • I still have my morning cup, but about 1/4 of it is milk.  I've never been a huge coffee drinker (too much keeps me up all night), but when I tried to quit cold turkey, I got horrible withdrawal headaches in the afternoons.  The one cup in the morning is just enough to keep the headaches away.
  • My plan was to stick to 1-2 smalls cups a day because I'm a coffee addict. But, that stopped at the beginning of this week... very surprisingly, one of my aversions has been to coffee! I really miss it, but the thought of making a cup makes me gag.

  • Yup, I weaned myself down to one cup a day before we got pregnant.... but no one in their right mind is going to try to take that one away from me :)

  • I drink it every morning the thought doesn't repulse me.  Just one cup, and if I feel the need to have a coffee beverage in the afternoon, I just get decaf.

  • I still have my morning cup, and I will sometimes have a second cup later in the day if I have a bad headache or if my DD has kept me up all night (she is teething and it has been BRUTAL).

  • I haven't had a cup since I found out I was pg, and I was drinking a few cups a day.  I have been craving an iced coffee lately though.  I have never been one to drink decaf - but I'm really tempted to stop and get a decaf iced coffee.  If not, like you all said, a cup of regular coffee hear or there isn't bad, so I may treat myself to a regular :-)

  • I've been told that being under 200mg of caffeine a day is fine (about 2 cups).  I make it a point to do no more than 100mg - including chocolate...just to be on the safe side.  But I know women who drink soda all day throughout their pregnancy and had perfectly heatlhy babies.  NOT that I am recommending that AT ALL!  But my doctor's says a cup of coffee a day is no problem.

I'm not.  I'm one of those crazy 1st time pregnant ladies that is being obsessive, LOL.  Especially with as long as it took for me to get KU, I'm not taking any chances.  I'm sure I'll relax as time goes on, but for now I'm still a nervous Nellie Embarrassed

  • I switched to half caff coffee too.  I also switched to decaf iced tea because I could drink a bunch of it and I don't want to go overboard.
  • I stopped which is soooo difficult. I am a Starbucks fanatic. Unfortunately I had to give up for the first three months because we did Fertility treatments and PG is risky. Doctor did say after 1st Tri, that I could drink one 8oz cup a day. My thoughts were, why start then when the cravings for coofee are over.

If I had a regular PG, I would still be drinking it. Just not as often.

  • yes sometimes i have 2 amall cups or 1 med cup. I stopped drinking soda with caffeine it.  ginger ale is heaven for me right now Smile
  • I don't ever drink coffee but I am still drinking soda and iced tea. It's all about moderation.

  • I probably would be if it didn't make me sick. The only thing I can drink is water, unsweet tea, milk, and ginger ale. The unsweet tea thing is very off for me b/c I love sweet tea and have never liked unsweet tea until now. Everything else makes me sick. Sometimes even the small selection of drinks makes me sick including water.
