allergies for LO

I called the pedi and they said he could take either zyrtec or claritin (1/2 the dosage for 2 yr olds).  Do any of you have any experience with either?  recommendations?  warnings?  Anything else I'm not thinking of?

    DS has been taking the Claritin with no side-effects or drowsiness.

    Benadryl, ask the pedi for dosage

    As an adult, Zyrtec makes me really sleepy.  Not sure if it affects kids the same way or the opposite, but when I used to take it I took it at night as a result.  Until he your LO gets used to it, I would not take it before any planned activity just to be safe.

    Liquid Benadryl is also more effective for me than Zyrtec, Claritin, Allegra or really any of the prescription allergy meds but it also has the drowsy effect.
