PSA for Hyde Park/Oakley Moms

I just wanted to share that there is a group of parents trying to reopen the Hyde Park School by Hyde Park Square. Since our only option is John P Parker, I've been planning on Catholic School or Montessori. I'd appreciate a good neighborhood public option and it would be good for property values as well. Since Kilgour is over capacity, I think it makes sense to have another good public school in the neighborhood. If you're interested in details:

  • Not sure if you're aware of it or not, but if you live in the Cincy Public district and John P. Parker would be your home school you qualify for the Ohio Ed Choice Scholarship/Voucher which gives you free/reduced tuition to some of the Catholic Schools in the area.  Just another option if you are really interested in Catholic education.  Here's the website for more info.

  • Thanks! I do know about that. We're not all that sure Catholic School is the route we want to go. Obviously, we have time to decide what is best for us!

  • Are you considering one of the magnet schools as well? In addition to our neighborhood school, Pleasant Ridge Montessori, we're thinking about Fairview and possible SCPA.

  • Yep and Sands and North Avondale also. We have friends that LOVE the New School, and that's a non religious private school we'll also consider.

  • I'm only curious because we lucked out and are zoned for Kilgour, but do you think it would change our zone?  I want Kilgour!

  • Okay, they updated their web page with a ton more information in the past month.  I didn't know that Kilgour is overcrowded and think the plan sounds good on paper.  Thanks for the information (you wouldn't happen to be an information professional would you?).
  • Thanks for the info :)  I'm not an Oakley/Hyde Park person, but I am a CPS mom.  DS is at Dater Montessori and we love it.  Anyway, great info if someone is asking.

  • Honestly, reading this convo is filling me with [even more] CPS envy. Wink
