Success after IF

Staw cups

Can you recommend a good one to learn with? I bought Tommee Tippee straw cups and I can't even sip out of it, I am not sure how D is going to be able to. Right now he is having fun chewing it!
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

Re: Staw cups

  • We have the Platex Insulated Straw Cups. I love them because the straw isn't hard so he can't hurt himself with it and the lid closes the straw inside of it so it stays clean.

We love these as well.  The valve is not difficult to suck through.  We also really like the the take and toss cups, they have no valve at all though so they are not spill proof.  But we still like them for meal times.

  • I like the munchkin ones at target. They are easy to suck, close to stay clean, and come apart completely for cleaning.

We have these as well. Don't have anything to compare them too, but they seem to like them. We had a bit of a learning curve where they would tip the cup back to get the milk. I would have to hold it down for them for the first few times.

  • We have the munchkin ones and they work well.  DS did NOT understand the straw until he was well over 18 months old.  One night we were at Margaritas and I let him try to take a sip of my water, and he actually did it - I almost fell out of my chair.  I had been trying to get him to do it for ages - every time I used a straw I would let him try, in addition to giving him his water in a straw cup.  I think it was by watching me drink my water that he figured it out.  Good luck!!
