I went to bed around 11 and woke up at 1:30 to really bad lower back/lower abdomen pain. At first I thought I had to poop, so I tried, but nothing happened and it just kept getting worse and worse. We've been taking our birthing classes, and they said with anterior placenta there's a chance our baby will try to delivery with the back of her head against my spine, causing a lot of back labor. That little tidbit was scaring me because I had honestly never felt pain like this before.
I woke my husband up and we tried everything to get it to stop. He rubbed my lower back, we put heat on it, I got in a hot bath. By this point, it had been awhile and I wasn't bleeding or leaking and our little girl was active - I'm pretty sure she could tell how much pain I was in, I was crying and throwing up it was so bad - so I didn't really think it was labor, it was just scary because it hurt so bad. Plus, my husband pointed out I was having consistent, non-ending pain and that's not what contractions are going to be like (right?).
Finally, at 3:00 we headed to the ER and it turns out I have kidney stones. People are not joking when they talk about how bad they hurt. At one point, I would say my pain was a 12 on a scale of 1-10.
The nurse couldn't get the IV to go into my arm for the meds and fluids because I was so dehydrated from throwing up so many times that my veins were hard to prick! He sat and wiggled and wiggled and I hated him until the meds finally started flowing and then he was my favorite person ever.
And guess how they say I got the stones - calcium building up from the Tums I've been taking for my heartburn!
I'm very, very glad nothing is wrong with my little girl and she wasn't making an early appearance, but that pain was fierce! Anyone 2nd timers had stones too and know how it compares to actual labor?
Re: I was seriously scared I was in labor last night!
Ouch!
Hope you're feeling better. That sounds like a terrible night.
