Vada for a Girl

As in Sultenfuss, as in from the movie "My Girl". Thoughts? I like it because it's got all the same letters as Ava, a name I love but think is way too popular to name my child.

    I like the sound of it but feel like it should be spelled Veda. I just don't get Vay-da from Vada.

    I wish it didn't, but it honestly makes me think of Vader...like Darth Vader. As in, anyone with the Long Island tendency to add an "-r" sound to the end of anything that ends with an -a (think Emeril Lagasse saying " 'vanillar' ice cream") will ruin the name.

    I think it's pretty. I think Vita/Veda is prettier, though. I know a little girl by this name. The name means LIFE. :0) As for a close name to Ava, I love Ada. Best of luck deciding.

    I think it's pretty, though it's not a "real name" strictly-speaking (I believe it was made up for the film). If you use it, I'd spell it as phonetically as possible, though I do like PP suggestion of Veda (it looks less like Vader, and it has the ancient Indian literary connection).

    I think I most-prefer PP's suggestion of Ada, but this name is far from unheard of (thanks to the movie) and is a surprisingly underused movie-name.

    I've always loved that name....and I love that movie even more!! 

    But someone is right, she may have to explain the pronounciation as she grows up, unless they are firmilar with the movie...

    I love this name.  I prefer the spelling Veda.  I think it looks prettier for some reason.  I wish I could get my DH on board because I think it is really unique without being too out there.

    I love Veda. It is always on my list but my husband is not a fan.

    DH's grandmother is named Veda, however she dislikes it and goes by her middle name (Emily). The name is growing on me though and we might use it as a middle name one day.
