Reflux? Not getting enough?

Lila has been very fussy lately and not letting me put her down at all.  She constantly wants to be held and if she's not nursing she's rooting and fussing.  Some of the time she nurses normally, and other times she's not really latching on, just tugging and pulling off and fussing.  After a few days of not being able to put her down or satisfy her, I opened a sample can of formula and gave her 2 oz.  Afterwards she sat in her swing for awhile and then took a great nap.  Does it sound like she isn't getting enough?  Or could it be something else?  Maybe reflux?  She does spit up some, but not a lot.  She also arches her back some when she is nursing and fussing.

    Could be both. The arching makes me think reflux, but the fact that she seemed content after the bottle makes me wonder.. It's hard to say. Did you look at kellymom?

    B did not spit up, but he had reflux.  One of our big signs was the arching back.  We used baby zantac, and that seemed to help.  It also helped with the ridiculous fussiness in the late afternoon/early evening hours.  I think it's worth asking the pedi about.  GL!

    That's a tough call.. 2 of my good friends have reflux babies and while they both arch their backs... Formula makes them 10x as fussy and both their pedi's advised to stick with BF because it's easier for a reflux baby.
    Are you pumping at all? Maybe try a bottle of BM? Or maybe growth spurt? Hope it passes soon!

    Nope, not pumping at all... between nursing her and Charlotte both, it's hard to get motivated to do it, especially since I don't have a real need to give her a bottle since I'm at home and can just nurse.  I don't plan on continuing to give her the formula, I only did that today because she didn't seem to be getting satisfied.  She had been nursing allll day and was really fussy, when she usually only nurses every 3 hours or so, so I knew something was up.  I think maybe my supply has taken a hit in the past couple days, possibly due to stress... I've been so tired and not getting any sleep, I barely have time to eat/drink since she won't let me put her down.  This was going on yesterday too, I even tried eating oatmeal last night and my supply did seem better this morning, so we started off fine but I think Charlotte really drains me and is probably taking too much milk.

    I was going to ask if Charlotte's still nursing. One of my relatives had similar issues when trying to tandem nurse her newborn and toddler. It led to some real weight-gain problems for the baby. I know how hard it must be to decide whether to wean Charlotte when she's already in an adjustment period, but I would really be careful and keep a close eye on Lila's diapers and weight.

    To be honest, these sound like the exact signs that J exhibited when my supply bottomed out and he wasn't getting enough.

    "Regular" formula was just awful for my reflux baby. (we had to use nutramigen) She could not take it at all with crying, arching, fussing. I was unable to BF so I am not any help there. Unless you are eating broccoli or cabbage all day and the baby is gassy, I would say it is not reflux from the bottle making the baby content. I hope the baby gets over her fussiness soon and everything gets sorted out. It is so tough when you don't know how to fix it.

    Yep, mine too, with Ava.

    I just don't get how my supply could be tanking when I've been able to nurse Charlotte for so long without any problems.  I think it might be more of an issue of Charlotte taking too much and Lila not getting enough.  I think I'm just going to have to cut C off cold turkey.  Ugh.  What a PITA.
