What bottles?

We haven't bottle fed DS yet. He's still in the NICU on a high flow of oxygen that he can't feed by mouth with, however we are working our way down on it so he can eat. The NICU will allow me to nurse and required bottle feeding since he gets extra cals mixed in. What bottles do you use and LOVE? We have some Tommee Tippee, Mam and Born Free bottles to try out.

What are your faves?

Re: What bottles?

  • our LO had lots of tummy problems when we started bottle feeding. We love the Dr. Brown's bc we noticed he burped easier and had almost no gas out the other end. They're a pain to wash but you get into the hang of it. Hope your little guy keeps doing well and gets to nurse with you soon. :)

same here. love it, hate cleaning it.

  • We use Tommee Tippee bottlrs and love them. they make ones for sensitive tummies if you're worried about gas. 1ht
  • We are on avent for our third time.  Still love them.  Baby takes to it with no problem.  Although, my new little guy is struggling a little with gas so maybe I might try some of the other bottles that the moms have recommended on this thread.....

  • We use playtex drop ins and she loves them. We love them too, low maintenance.
  • We use Dr Brown's, but she's also down with the bottles that came with the medela BM kit and some evenflos.  Though Dr Brown's do have a lot of parts, after I went through them really well with the tiny brush the first time, I just throw everything into a dishwasher basket thing for later washes.

I will say that you may want to ask the NICU nurses for recommendations.  They were really helpful to us (and totally clinched Dr Brown's--we got a few recs from family but they were really glowing about them).  Good luck!

this exactly. My LO had reflux, and this was the only bottle that helped reduce gas and helped him burp.

  • My LO loves his Tommee Tippee, they are great for gas and spit up. We will never go back to regular bottles.

  • We loved Tommee Tippee but the flow on the 0m+ nipple was too fast for him and they don't make a preemie nipple.

We switched to Dr. Brown's and swapped out the level 1 nipples for preemie nipples.  Aidan's almost 12 weeks old and is still doing great with the preemie nipples.

I really don't understand people who complain about cleaning the parts of a Dr. Brown's bottle.  It really doesn't take that much effort, and every pack of bottles comes with cleaning brushes.

This was our experience as well. My DS has reflux and gas issues, and the flow on the TT was just too fast for him. We switched to Born Free glass with the Stage 1 nipples, and he has thrived on that.

I'm not familiar with the Dr. Brown's. I hear everyone talk about them, but since we found something that works, we stopped trying other stuff. Do they have the little vented pieces inside like the Born Free? If so, it's just 2 additional little pieces to wash, right?

  • Avent for the 2nd time around now.  We've never had any issues with them.

  • We use Breastflow bottles.  They're supposed to mimic breastfeeding and our DD goes between them and breast really well.  Only down side is cleaning them, they're a pain because there's actually 2 nipples (nestled together).
