Could it be bad in any way that Sienna does not drink juice or eat much sweets? Could this be depriving her of any nutrition? She drinks water & milk. Tried juice a couple of times, she didn't like it. That was months ago though, maybe I will try again. She hasn't had chocolate yet. No candy, or chips. The sweetest stuff she has had is crackers, yogurt, banana bread, croissants, crepes with jelly, ice cream (twice).
It's not that we are trying to deprive her, we just don't keep the stuff in the house. She loves vegetables, soup, cheese, pasta. I have even gotten her to eat some chicken, pork & fish which is a huge accomplishment. I'm afraid once she tries junk, she's going to be crying for it & boycotting real food.
Re: diet
Matty hasn't had juice or cookies or potato chips yet either. I was positive my MIL was going to call CPS on us for not giving Matt a traditional cake for his first birthday. He had a an organic apple muffin with a banana glaze on top.
We do plan on slowly introducing sweets after he turns two but for now we are making sure he loves fruits and vegetables first.
DH and I agreed that we didn't want to give Matt things like french fries or potato chips until he could understand that they were a small part of the meal and not THE meal.

Noah didn't care much for juice and sweets much either and now he is a fiend for them at 3 and a half. Don't worry, they will catch up on their own. He still loves everything else but we have to really limit his juice cause that is all he wants to drink. He loves sweets now too and when he was younger, he didn't really care for them. His 1st birthday cake he acted like he was being poisoned. Even his second birthday, he didn't care all that much for it.
You are definitely not depriving her of anything. Probably just saving her teeth

No, not bad, well, not unless you are eating it in front of her - then that is just mean. I can't imagine you doing that and it looks like from your post that you just don't have it around. We are worried that she will prefer junk over healthy foods.
We are the same way w/junk food. We restrict foods with high fructose corn syrup and added sugar, in general. Maddie did have a few Mike and Ikes at the movies since we were sitting next to her eating them, but that is one of the few times she has had candy and she only had a few, ever. She loves fruit and most vegies and loves all meat. We want to hold off sweets as long as we can, knowing that at some point she is going to have more access to it. All we can do is indulge her love of healthy fruit.
Just curious - what could possibly be bad about a toddler NOT eating candy & juice? Sorry. confused by this post.
