2U1...my 1 yr old is jealous!

It breaks my heart...every time I hold the baby he cries and cries, and it makes me cry, too. I know part of it is the hormones and I know he will get used to it eventually but how long will it take? I feel like I have wrecked his world. Advice, please!

    It may take a couple of weeks for your LO to figure out that the baby isn't going anywhere :)

    I didn't have 2u1 but mine are just under 15 months apart. I really thought DS was too young to understand. Not the case! He did the same thing you are describing but things slowly got better.

    Just make sure you give your older one lots of attention when the baby is sleeping. That really does help. Congrats and GL!

    :(  I'm sorry! I actually didnt realize that 1 year olds could be this way. I guess I was wrong and I just got lucky with my DS!

    Can you involve him when you're holding the baby? In the days I brought DD home, I spent many hours in my rocking chair holding the both of them on my lap. I involve my DS in everything I do with the baby. If he wants to play while the baby is being fed, I sit on the ground and play toys while I feed the baby at the same time. If he's in a cuddly mood, I let him sit with me in the rocking chair and read him a book and let him help me burp the baby/hold the bottle.

    Toddlers are resilient creatures-even if he is fussy now, I'm sure he will be ok in a few weeks. Hang in there mama!

    my little sister and brother are under a year apart (they are much younger than me).  My sister had some trouble but eventually it just becomes part of their life and they dont remember it any other way. It still is just sinking in!  Just keep including him and also if someone comes to see you make sure they greet him first, etc.  Things like that.  My sister and brother are very close...though they drive my mom insane (they are teenagers now).

    This issue never even crossed my mind!  I guess all we can do is give the older one a little extra love and attention when possible!  And for now I will just have to spoil her for the next 7 months!
