Keeping your home smelling fresh

How do you keep your house smelling good? We have 2 indoor dogs and I do my best, but I still smell odors. I don't know if my nose is just too sensitive (I do have an expert sniffer!) or what. I use Febreze air spray and glade scented plug-ins (the ones with 2 scents). I also have candles and a scentzy wax melter thingy. I prefer fresh scents over fruits and perfumes.

So, what is your secret?

Re: Keeping your home smelling fresh

  • if i'm vacumming without the baby (ex: DS is downstairs with DH and i'm vacumming updstairs or vise versa) i use the the vacumming baking soda - you get it in the cleaning section and just sprinkle it on the carpet and wait 10-15 min and vacumm.

  • I use carpet freshner too they have all different scents. I also light candles and have air wick plug ins. In our bathrooms I keep those Reed Diffusers.

  • We use the automatic sprayers. I love them. The house is always fresh now, even with two dogs and two cats.

  • I have two dogs and a cat. I vaccumm sometimes 2x/week. I also clean a different room each day. I am super into candles and just swapped out all my wintery smelling ones for the more light, airy, spring ones. I also do a load of laundry every other day or so and that helps. We live in a small house so I'm able to combat the smells. At night though, I really smell the dogs! I've been known to wash their bedding weekly or multiple times a week to get rid of smells.
  • Candles, plug-ins, febreeze, air out the house once in awhile. I think I'm a super sniffer too, but I can't stand to walk into a home and smell an odor. Our dog is big and often smelly.

  • I hate that smelly crap (Febreze, Glade, etc). I try to open my windows for at least a half hour whenever the weather's nice. Ditto the baking soda on the carpet. But then again, the only animal in my house is DD.

  • I vaccum 2 to 3 times a week and i also have a secentsy plug in. It melts wax at a low temp and it always keeps my whole house smelling amazing. If you want more info about scentsy you can email me at tma024@gmail.com

  • I always think a clean home DOESN'T smell - meaning no use of those sprays or anything. Try mopping with vinegar, or hiding a small bowl of vinegar around the room.
