This
is a place for any of you who are experiencing the world of
azoospermia. Whether you were recently diagnosed and are trying to make
sense of it all, or you have started preparing for IVF or IUI, or have
decided instead to move on to adoption. Please join in the group by
posting! Check in is on Thursdays. Learning
that the chances of having a biological child with your husband are
slim to none is not easy, and is, frankly, devastating news. This check
in is a place where we can share how we are coping (or not) with our
new realities, provide information we've learned through investigating
our options, adjusting our lifelong dreams and plans, and dealing with
the situation. I'd
like to extend an invitation to those who have been fortunate enough to
experience pregnancy, childbirth, and/or adoption. Ultimately, all of
us desire to create a family. The experiences and insight of those who
have reached that goal will be quite helpful to those of us on that
road. AZOO SUCCESS STORIES! Re: ~~ZERO SPERM / AZOOSPERMIA CHECK IN~~
Question of the Week:
What are you looking forward to the most about warmer weather?
I love warm breezy nights with all the doors and windows open. So that's what I am looking forward to. I will be singing an entirely different tune when it hits 105 degrees here.
Me - DX Hashimoto's Disease, Hypothyroid, Rheumatoid Arthritis
DH - DX Azoospermia - Sertoli Cell Syndrome
DS-IUI #1-4 BFN IVF #1 - BFP! It's a boy!!!
update- NT scan is scheduled for next Tuesday. Also found out I have to do the 1hr. GTT next week as well b/c I guess I'm fat :P I'm as big as I was with DS and didn't have to do it this early last time, just the usual one around 28 weeks. I'm not even that big 14/16, but whatever, as long as I pass.
What are you looking forward to the most about warmer weather? I'm really looking forward to be able to spend more time outside at the park with DS and having my windows open. We had 2 abnormally warm days last week and it was great to open the windows. Unlike today, it was snowing out. Crazy New England weather.
UGh. I just got off the phone with my RE... and my I responded well to the clomid, and have large follicles, but my lining is thin... She said my estrogen was at like 1500... She said it was my call to do the iui. She said it was less than 5 % that it would work, and since we are using donor sperm, that it would almost be like "wasting" it... So she said I would be looking at doing Estrace and maybe Clomid again...
UGH.
She said I have to do the HCG shot cause she is afraid maybe the follicles might not release, and then they would turn into cysts next month... UGH.
She said I might be walking funny half the afternoon that i ovulate...
ugh.
FU IF!
DH needs to get another SA. He has been on clomid for a few months now and we need to find out if it did anything. He has been dragging his feet scheduling the appointment, but I haven't been too hard on him since I am also scared for the results.
QOTW: I can't wait to start camping! We might be going in two weeks, if it isn't raining. I also have some projects in the backyard I want to do so that we have a great space for entertaining.
Update: Starting BCP's tomorrow for IVF#2. YeAH! 2nd SCSA for DH in 2 weeks.
QOTW: Getting outside and doing anything! Throwing ball with the dogs, grilling out and eating on our patio, walking, gardening. I love the spring.
We did this too for about 3 months. We have it scheduled for our April appointment.
Best of luck!
QOTW: We have been enjoying warmer weather for about 2 weeks. However, with that came pollen and drippy noses! UGH... I enjoy evening walks the most and keeping the french doors wide open! Too bad we only have about another few weeks before it just becomes HOT!
I'm on Spring Break starting today, we are going to the mountains! I can't wait! I will check in again in 2 weeks! Good luck to anyone that could use it!
gervais - I'm sorry you were cancelled
I hope the next month flies by!
Update - ER is tomorrow super, super early. The nurse yesterday wouldn't give me an estimate of follicles yesterday, so I'm not really sure what we're looking at.
QOTW: I'm looking forward to happy hour outside!
Good luck! Are you going to be able to update tomorrow? I hope it goes well! PPV!
Thanks Kyna, good luck to you too. We just want enough in the sample to do IVF w/ICSI and avoid a biopsy.
I'm excited that we have FINALLY made some decisions on how to proceed. We are going to schedule the testicular biopsy to see if they are able to get any viable sperm. We are also going to have a consult with a 2nd RE to check pricing and decide which one we want to go with. The biopsy will hopefully get done at the end of April. Depending on the results we will hopefully be moving on to IVF w/ ICSI. We will have to wait about 6 months before we can do another biopsy. So looking at IVF in the fall. **fingers crossed for good results from the biopsy**
QOTW: I'm looking forward to being able to grill dinner more often!
Dejavu - good luck with the NT and GTT
Gervais - sorry to hear about the cancelled cycle
Gidge- good luck this morning!!
Update: D-IUI was a big ole failure. I'm devastated and in shock that it didn't work. We'll have a WTF soonish. And figure out what is next. At the last IUI, she said there was still some left over DS, even though we had 5 vials. Not sure how that works. But it does help this failed cycle hurt almost a little less.
QOTW: being coat-free!!!
Hitched I am so sorry. Big (((hugs)))

DejaVu - Boo for the extra 1 hr GTT. That sucks! I'm an 18/20 and my doc isn't having me do it until 28 weeks. I hope you pass and can just move on.
Gervais- I'm so sorry about your cycle being canceled. Of all the waiting we did canceled cycles were always the hardest for me. (((hugs)))
Amy - Good Luck with the SA. I hope that you and your DH are pleasantly surprised with a good improvement.
BBakersgirl - Good Luck!

They got 9 eggs but only 4 or 5 are mature. Other cycles pretty much everything was mature so that was really hard to hear - plus based on some of the scans I was expecting a couple more. We decided to only use ds if there weren't more than 10, so I'm not sure what to expect for fert. Other cycles it was exactly 50%....
Question Of the week.
I am looking forward to no more sky high heating bills, no more freezing when I take my 2 dogs out ... lol and getting away! We always take a vacation when the weather starts warming up!!! Can't wait!

Hey Ladies...
Quick update on me... My RE has been keeping an eye on my HCG levels to make sure they are going down and last Tuesday they actually went up! So, she scheduled me for an MVA on Wednesday, which btw was the worse pain I personally have ever felt, and on Thursday my number went from 341 down to 92. I will have my beta drawn again on Thursday to make sure it goes to zero or negative they said, which I was surprised that it could be negative, and then we will wait for AF to try again.
QOTW: I look forward to: the longer days, being able to wear flip flops, to not have to wear a coat, to drive with my windows down, to take long walks outside instead of at the track at the gym, to read outside on my deck, to go camping... I think I could go on and on and on!
