So...... I'm sitting here trying to figure out Summer staffing schedules and I am trying to figure out how long I will actually want to work in the month of June. I am due on July 4 and my doctors have always said that IVF babies almost always are born a week early. I am thinking that my last day at work will need to be around June 17 (a little over 2 weeks before due date). What is everyone else thinking? (I know we can't plan this out completely

but I would like to have a plan in place nonetheless).

Re: When do you want your last day of work to be before leave?
im so tired all the time, can it be tomorrow?
My job ends in May, unless they ask me to stay on. Ill take assignments through the first week of July (its not ideal $$ wise but since i have the opportunity to take 3 weeks prior instead of 2, i will).
I plan to work up until I deliver (but I will likely ask to work 1-2 days a week from home during the last month- same as I did with #1).
FWIW, of my friends that had IVF, most went until their due date or were induced after it.
Want? Tomorrow.
Realistic? I have the option to work from home, so up until I deliver.
After 3 failed Clomid+TI cycles, DD was conceived with IUI#1
TTC #2
Clomid 50 mg + IUI#1 = BFP, m/c and D&C at 7w1d
Clomid 50mg + IUI#2 = BFN
Clomid 100mg + IUI#3 = BFN
Lupron + Follistim + IVF#1 = 11ER, 10M, 10F, ET of 1 expanded BBA 5-day blast, 2 Frosties. BFP! Beta 10/13 = 264! Beta 10/15 = 702! EDD 6/21/14
With DD I intended to work until I was in labor and the doctors at work sent me to the hospital. Unfortunately, contractions started before I actually started progressing so I stopped working about two weeks before she finally came.
Honestly, if you've got the time off/savings I'd plan on being off a week before you expect LO to come. That last week at home was good. Make sure to keep things around to keep you busy, though. I walked miles and miles a day and ran lots of little errands otherwise I would have been going stir crazy!
All of this. It just really depends upon how I feel as the date gets closer. If I can't put in a full day's work, my boss would rather I not clock in.
If I had a steady job i would do this or maybe a week before if i could afford it.
Same, unless Doc says otherwise. I can't afford to be off more than 6 weeks honestly. I would love to take the week off prior if possible but how does one know unless they are to be induced or have a scheduled c-section....
This is me too.
My C-Section is scheduled for 7/21 and my last day of work is either 15th (Friday) or 18th (Monday). Not sure which.
my first day of maternity leave=first contraction.
my last day of maternity leave=ASAP
I don't have any paid time off left. We can't go without one of my paychecks for more than 1 or 2 weeks max
Part of me wants to stop working a week before my due date of 7/1, but I honestly might just work up until I deliver. I have to use vaca/sick time for the days I take off before the baby is born, and if I end up going 1-2 weeks late, that's a lot of PTO that I'm using without actually needing to. I'd rather save that up for after baby is born. So I guess I'll see how I'm progressing throughout June and make the call based on that.
I work at a university and classes are over in early May...the summers are a lot slower in my office, so I can make a game-time decision if I need to.
I work at a University too!

With DD 1 who was due 1/2/10 I intended to work until 12/24 but I had pre-e and was put on hospital bedrest the day after Thanksgiving.
I have my C/S tenitively planned for 7/22 this time so I figure I will hopefully work until 7/16. But that is all dependent on if the pre-e comes back again of course. I so wish I had the sort of job I could do from home.

7/22 is my bday so I think that's a great day!
OP - I plan on working until I go into labor. Luckily my work is really flexible and isn't requiring an exact date from me.
This. Not enough vacation leave to allow for any extra time!

I hope to work until it is GO time! I want as much time off with the LO as possible.
My mom's water broke when she was pregnant with me while she was in the middle of interviewing a potential new hire. It was a Friday, two days before my EDD, and she was trying to finish the week out. PS- poor kid got the job!

I work 12 hour shifts on my feet, so I am sure my doc will let me know during those last weekly check ups.
6/14/10 BFP; 6/30/10 Dx ectopic
11/16/10 BFP #2; DD born 7/26/11
I am due July 1st and I am a teacher.
I set up my last day to be Thursday June 16th.
This.
Before my STD kicks in I have to use 32 hours of PTO and then my 64 hours of IPA (Income protection account=fancy name for sick time). So I am going to try and coordinate with my doctor to go out two weeks before my due date of 7/1, so hopefully 6/17 would be my last day. That way I can use my 96 hours that I HAVE to use before I can even start my STD. As long as I have a doctors note excusing me I can use STD up until I deliver, but at the date of deliver my 6/8 weeks starts (depends on vaginal or c-section). So since I have to use those 96 hours that will cut into my STD, I'd rather take off two weeks early and use that up so I can start my STD the day I deliver. Also I will have to use any earned PTO before my STD starts, so I will be making sure I only have like 32 hours of PTO when I go out. I think it would be different if I could save my PTO/IPA and start with my STD at first because then I could get 8 weeks at home with the baby paid, but it doesn't work that way, so I'm going to try and make it work the best for me!
