sorry for the lower case, i am typing one handed.
ds is 6 weeks old and it seems like he hardly sleeps. he never falls asleep til 11 at night, sleeps in 3 hour increments. at 6ish he is basically up for the day most of the time. sometimes i can get him to nap while i shower for about 15 minutes and usually won't fall asleep again til about noon. then he'll sleep for 2 hours, wake up to eat and start the cycle again. i swear dd slept more than that...I finally got him to sleep just now and anytime i move or make a noise he starts to wake up. dd doesn't help because anytime she sees he is sleeping she trys to wake him. i know sleep begets sleep so i feel like we're in a vicious cycle.
Re: how much does your 6 week old sleep?
That's a good point. I didn't even really think about it until now but he doesn't really have any one place he naps. He usually falls asleep on me and I put him in the bouncer or swing if I can...if not he stays on me. Usually he does sleep ok if I hold him but not always, and obviously not today. I just brought him up with me to put Dd down for nap. While I read to her I put him in his crib with the mobile on, he stays quiet when it's on. After I finished with DD I went to get him and he was sleeping. Now, we don't have him in his crib yet because we don't want to wake DD when he gets up but now I wonder if he might sleep better in his crib than anywhere else, DD always did.
My 2 older kids were sleeping through the night by 6 weeks, not this LO, He does nap alot but I would love more sleep time during the night.
I put him down to bed about 10. For the last 3 nights he has slept 2am. But hen he is on the 3 hour cycle too. He's up then at 5, 8, 11....After I give him a bottle at night he does right back to sleep unil his 8am bottle. Then during the day he is up usually about an hour, sometimes alitte longer after a bottle.
Mine too. Maybe not even 4 hours. She sleeps all.the.time. I am wondering if it is because she was almost 3 weeks early so gestationally she is a bit behind. I am enjoying it though! She slept from midnight until 9 am this morning waking only once to nurse.

You might just have an active baby on your hands? The schedule you described sounds a lot like the one my LO is on: She gets excited/over-stimulated very easily and sometimes fights sleep for 4 hours at a time.
I have noticed that when she gets up early, if I side-nurse her in bed with me I can trick her into dozing for a couple more hours, but otherwise it just seems like she wants to be up and doing stuff.
My LO doesn't sleep a lot during the day either, but does good at night.
She will sleep from around 10 til 4:30 - then wake, fed and back to bed at 5 and awake around 7:30 or so. Then we go downstairs to feed, have a little playtime, I shower and she will go down for a nap around 9:30 for maybe an hour. She will also have maybe an hour or two nap mid afternoon and then short cat naps here and there. That's about it..
This is a lot like DD's schedule except she sleeps from about 8-8 with 2 feedings inbetween. She catnaps during the day, with her longest nap being around 45 minutes or so.
I put Connor down for the night at 10-11pm, any earlier than that he wakes up before i want to wake up because I don't tend to go to bed until 11pm. So he sleeps from 10/11 til 4 or 5AM without waking up. I make sure I feed him right before sleep.
Daddy wakes up at 5am so I am up feeding C and daddy leaves for work around 6. We are usually back to bed around 6:30am til about 8 or if I'm lucky like today 10!
Then he is up pretty much all day except for cat naps maybe 30min long. He eats pretty much every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. He is past his fussy growth spurt I think. But his appetite is still there. He is generally a happy baby during the day. But he gets his fussy period around 5pm.
He will sleep forever in the car though if we go somewhere. So I try not to make it too long because Iit tends to affect his night if he sleeps a long time during the daytime.
