A long overdue update on baby #2

Hey Ladies-

I apologize for not posting an update after my first OB appointment.  We have had a pretty craptastic month between Max's labs, Max not eating, moving and Tim's dad.

Anyway, everything looks great.  I asked for an ultrasound to help ease my mind so the doctor agreed to make up an excuse so that insurance would pay for it. There was a beautiful little blob with a heartbeat on the screen. The tech didn't measure the BPM which makes me a little nervous, but it looked good to me.

I voiced my concerns to my doctor and she agrees with me 100% that we need to take precautions with this baby to make sure he/she doesn't have what Max had.  She is ordering a fluid check ultrasound at 14 weeks and a level 2 ultrasound at 18 weeks.  She told me that we will catch it early if there is something wrong.  I left feeling so much better about this whole process.

We are still extremely nervous, but we are more confident than we were considering the care and precautions we are going to take this time around.

Thank you to all of you who recommended For Women and Dr. Wurzbacher.  She is wonderful.

I have my next appointment in 2 weeks.  I will try to keep you guys updated a little sooner this time around :)

  • I'm so glad to hear that your U/S went so well and that your visit was able to ease your mind.

    How's everything with Mr. L?

He isn't doing well.  We saw him on Sunday and he was up in his wheelchair and eating a little.  when Tim saw him Tuesday night, he hadn't been out of bed or eating since Sunday.  He can barely talk or open his eyes.  He is starting to lose function on the opposite side of his body that the tumor is on so that side of his face is drooping making it hard to swallow, open his eyes, talk, etc.

He is suppose to go to Respite Care through Hospice on April 4, but my MIL doesn't think he's going to make it that long.  It's so sad to see him the way he is.  You don't want the inevitable to happen, but you know it's coming so you want it to happen so that he doesn't have to go through this anymore.  The whole situation just sucks.

Thank you for asking though.  We appreciate it.

  • I am so happy that baby #2 is doing well, and they gave you some peace of mind.  I still stand firmly in the GO MAX camp, and pray for him all the time.  I wish you better labs and long term good results with him.  He is one amazing little boy.  I can't wait to hear bout the award later!  He has awesome parents!  I wish you all peace and your FIL comfort.  I know how hard that is.  If you need a place to chat or all out scream or vent, feel free to shoot me a message.  I have been where you are, and I am keenly aware of what it is doing to you.  Huge hug to you.  Hang in there.
