Do any of you recommend one over another for beginning? My LO does more of what we call a "mouth rinse" than drinking from it becasue she bites it instead of sucking. She has no issues nursing or taking a bottle, but with the cup she just won't suck. Im trying to get her to drink enough water and also some prune juice due to constipation, but little missy won't take anything but formula or breastmilk from a bottle. She's a particular little thing!
Right now we have a tommee tippee cup with handles and a silicone spout. (funny it says a no bite cup lol )and a Gerber one with a soft spout soneone gave us.
Thanks for the help!
Re: Sippy cup :)
I tried various sippy cups (generously from another nestie which I've since passed on) and found most of the cup ended up with me being bitten.
So we went straight to straws. Just dip a straw into water/bm whatever your giving and then stop it with your finger and you let a little out to show em that it comes out. Eventually they'll start to suck on it. Once that happened we put the straw (a cut one so it didn't take so much sucking power) in a cup with a little liquid and he could do it himself. I think it took about 2 weeks total for us to straw train him
I'm probably in the minority, but I'm glad we just went with the straws! Less parts to clean
Good luck!
Oh and the Gerber Insulated Cups are great too. I haven't seen them at the store lately though.
This. I was convinced that DD would be on the bottle forever, but is just clicked one day (around 11 months). She was completely off the bottle by her first birthday.
We started with these then moved on to these. She is just now getting the hang of the straw cups.
