NTTGPR: Toys. The safe for work kind.

Hi I'm Salt and I'll be your post hoar today.

Anyway I was just discussing this with a coworker....remember these?

image

POGO BALL! I had two when I was 8 and used to jump down flights of stairs on them. It's a wonder I never ended up in the emergency room. Ohhh danger in the 80's.

I also found this link that brought back SO many memories and makes me wonder what kinds of things will be popular when I have a LO.

What were your favorite toys when you were younger?

  • OMG!!! I had one of these and it was my absolute favorite toy!!! We use to take ours to school and do it during recess...it was AWESOME!!! I actually had 2 of them. One had a red platform and black balls (hehehe...I giggled when I wrote that) and the other was a blue platform with silver balls. They were great!!

  • I loved the skip-it and pogo balls.  All the kids on our street had pogo balls and we'd all go hop around together.

A friend runs a daycare and when I was over yesterday, one of the kids had a Popple in her backpack.  I teared up seeing that as I loved my popple.

I think my favorite was either those stuffed Popples or my Rainbow Bright horse, there are about a hundred pictures of me holding that thing when I was little.

Also, He-Man, She-Ra, Care Bears, and Popples.  I remember I had a plastic He-Man sword, and I'd go into the back yard, hold the sword up, and yell his transformation line, and then get all disappointed when I didn't transform, lmao.

Chinese Jump Rope was insanely popular at my school.  I went to school with a lot of Vietnamese girls, and they're the ones who brought it to our school and taught everyone else how to do it.  I liked it a lot and was pretty good at it (way better at it than normal jump rope lol).

  • Excuse me, miss Salt, with all due respect, but how did you manage to jump down stairs on a ball? Aren't you possible the queen of klutziness? I gotta hand it to you though, I could never figure those things out.

I freaking loved my roller blades. I roller bladed everywhere. It's amazing I don't have a broken neck, really.

Nah I'm the queen of no rhythm. :) I'm usually okay unless there is dancing involved. Plus I had absolutely no fear back then. I'd definitely hurt myself now if I tried to do it.

I don't know who introduced me to Chinese Jump Rope, but my little brother probably wanted to kill them.  If we were stuck in the house, I would wrap one side on the legs of a kitchen chair and make my brother hold the other side.  Poor thing...I was obsessed.
