I Think My Baby Is The Only One Who Doesnt Get Hiccups...

Everybody talks about it, my Mom said it was one of her favorite things about being pregnant but I have yet to feel any. She just wiggles, rolls and rubs her lil hands and feet on my tummy (which tickles! lol) but Ive never felt anything that would make me think hiccups. I was kinda curious as to what they felt like and would like to experience them at least once but she hasnt had any so far.

Anybody else not felt hiccups?

Re: I Think My Baby Is The Only One Who Doesnt Get Hiccups...

  • I'll raise my hand as someone who hasn't. Of course, I don't know if it's because I have a larger anterior placenta and if there is any jumpy/jerky movements I'm not likely to feel it..

It's a trip as it is to SEE myself getting kicked and punched on an ultrasound and not even feel it

  • Out of three pregnancies, only my second son had hiccups in the womb. He was breech from week 14 through week 34. He also was born with a full head of hair. Stick out tongue

  • I only had it for the first time last week. It was pretty cool, but don't feel bad. Maybe your baby just isn't prone to hiccups?

  • I was feeling the same way, BUT I just felt them for the first time this morning (I'm 32 weeks).  Before that, I felt all kinds of movement, but there's was never anything that was distinctly hiccups.

  • i havent had any either, and DS#1 had them annoyingly bad when i was pregnant with him. For  HOURS. im kinda glad i havent had any yet
  • I didn't start feeling it till almost 32 and 1/2 weeks, so you still have time!

To me it feels like a tiny little heartbeat in your belly. At first you think it's kicking, then you realize that baby is keeping beat!

  • i've felt them for quite a while now....but maybe that's because i'm on bedrest and can "feel everything".

LO gets them at least 2x a day.  and ALWAYS between 10-11pm like clockwork!  it feels like a consistant repetetive tick or "drumb beat". over and over and over.  In fact i can even have DH put his hand on my belly and he can feel them!

oh..and i have an anterior placenta too.  but she is head down so the hiccups are always low and over to the side where she is laying!

  • I think I felt them once last week, but it might be due to my anterior placenta...

  • I haven't felt mine have the hiccups either, but saw him having them on the ultrasound.  My doctor said that was normal and I may feel them more as I get further along (I'm 31 weeks).
  • I hadn't felt any hiccups until yday.  They are pretty cool though.

I think they feel weird - I would much rather feel kicks and punches.  To me, it feels like a short muscle-spasm that keeps repeating in the exact same spot.  Doesn't hurt, just that awkward jolt-y feeling when your muscles spasm.  I only notice them when I'm sitting or laying, and most of the time, I don't notice unless I'm in a pretty "calm" activity, like reading, as opposed to an "active" activity, like watching a movie or playing a game.
