Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Is this what it feels like to be a single parent?

Ugh! I'm exhausted! DH broke his ankle at work 2 days ago so he is on crutches and completely unable to help me with DS (other than holding him while he is sitting on the couch). Last night DS woke up around 1 and after being fed and changed stayed up and fussed until almost 4 Tongue Tied He usually is pretty good about going back to sleep in the middle of the night so I really hope that was an isolated incident.

I've been the sole caregiver for DS for the past 2 days (and nights) and I have absolutely no idea how single parents do it on their own! Okay, mini vent over-I'm going to go make a pot of coffee and enjoy the whole thing myself! Wink

  • I'm not a single parent but y dh worked out of town 3 weeeks out of 4 from the time ds was 4 months old to just before dd arrived. I was the sole caregiver and sometimes I think dh doesn't realize how hard it was becuase now we share responsiblitlies. It's tough but hang in there, it won't be long till he gets better nad can start helping again. GL>

  • im def not a single mom but i do all the caretaking of our kids.

im now a SAHM so i just figure its my job. not to mention i bf so there is nothing DH can do for that and i also cloth diaper so i would rather just do it myself than to teach DH how to. im one of "those types". ill do it myself to know its all done right before i give it someone else to do.

    my day goes like this:

i wake up at 6am and get DS#1 ready for school and pack his lunch, DH takes him to school on his way to work most days, then i spend the morning taking care of DS#2 and trying to get some cleaning done while he naps. i then get ready and go pick DS#1 up from school at 12. we come home and he lays down for a nap and i spend the afternoon the same way as far as trying to get things done around taking care of them and hving some play time with them. i cook dinner around 5 and DH gets home around 6. he usually showers and then we eat. he will usually spend some time with the boys while i take a bath or something like that. then 730 is DS#1 bath and then bed time, then i repeat with Ds#2. oh yea... i do it all by myself too. everyday!

eta: i also get up evertime DS#2 does all night by myself. which is usually every 2 hrs!

  • I feel that way too--DH had off for a week and now has to work.  His job is pretty demanding and I need him focused and safe so he doesn't get hurt.  However...I am TIRED TIRED TIRED.  I try to get naps, but it doesn't seem to happen.
