What I came home to yesterday

Those on FB already saw pictures. Yesterday afternoon a guy started fixing our fence. He was just going to replace a couple posts and slat. Nothing major. He called me about 3:15 to get permission to go into the backyard and start the job. He calls me at 4:50ish that i need to get home there was an accident. No one was hurt. He had to run out of the way to not get him but other than that the only casualty was the fence.

  • That's so crazy! I'm so glad that no one was hurt.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • I guess I should have clarified "accident." We live on a corner lot and someone was turning and having to swerve to miss a car at the stop sign and ran into our fence. I soo appreciate having a fenced in backyard this morning when I had to actually take the dog out to do his business and just open the back door. I'm also feeling very exposed without the fence. Good news is the girl had insurance that *should* take care of the fence and we found out our neighbor does fence work.
  • wow, that's crazy!!

  • That is crazy! I'm glad nobody was hurt. I guess the bright side is that you get a brand new fence now.
  • Holy cow!! So, so glad no one was hurt.
  • Oh my.  I'm glad neither of the kiddos were in the backyard and that the fenceman was able to avoid getting hit.  Thank goodness for insurance.  Yay for a new fence though.  I'd be curious to see what your neighbor charges to fix the fence if you do decide to have him replace it.  We're planning to replace our fence and got a no from MIL when we asked if FIL could help us (DH) install it.  Bleh.
  • I'm glad he saw it coming and got out of the way!

I was once at an intersection where a big truck with failed breaks whipped straight out in front of me and rammed into a brick fence, just narrowly missing the house.  I still think about that all the time.  Scary!

  • WOW... glad no one was hurt.
  • I'm glad no one was hurt.  This happened to my sister a few years ago...they have those cement fences--the ones where the panels slip into the posts.  It took a while to get it fixed, but it wasn't a simple fix like cedar slats are.

oh wow, I'm so glad everyone is ok!
  • That is so scary - thank goodness the fence guy was okay and you weren't home to witness this.  :(  Same thing happened in our yard when I was a kid, except it was a drunk driver at 2am.  We woke up to someone pounding on our door to let us know there was a Ford Bronco busted through our fence.
