I need to come up with an awesomely fantastic birthday present for my Father in law. His birthday is in 2 weeks. It needs to be something special, doesn't have to be expensive but I'm okay with spending up to a couple hundred dollars for the right thing. Any ideas??
Re: Need a gift idea
Yeah, that's the problem. He has EVERYTHING like that so I'm going to have to go the creative/meaningful route. Although you might be on to something w/ the sports stuff. He played FB in college. I found a recordable book called My Grandfather and Me that I'm going to let Emma record for him so that's a start.
For people who has everything, we usually give them the gift of experience
- Golf Lessons
- Trip
- Dinner to their favorite restaurant
- Adventure activities
Two of the best gifts we have gotten my parents were a hot air balloon ride for my Mom. she has always wanted to do that. And a ride on a B-17 WWII airplane for my Dad. He is a history nerd like me so that was really special for him.
They have also enjoyed tickets to shows or concerts in the past. It's hard since they can afford to buy whatever they want, or at least anything we could afford to buy them. Ha! We did give my Dad an Ipod a couple of years ago and all of us burned CD's that we had to go with it so he had a ton of music already set up to start with. He has really enjoyed that also.
Does he like to travel? we've been eyeing this personalized travel map for fil bday bc they are avid travelers.

Something else that dad's seem to like: a Nascar ride along experience. FIL doesn't even watch Nascar or keep up with it, but he freaking loved the ride along experience at AMS. My Dad has done it too and wants to do it again.
