Great maternity leave news!

So, I have been kinda worried about how much short term disability pay I will receive during my maternity leave. Today, we had insurance reps at our school to discuss new policies and open-enrollment, and I found out that I can increase my coverage right now with no questions asked...even though I am already pregnant! This is amazing because now I will get double the amount of money I would have before, and it's the difference between taking 6 weeks and 12 weeks off. I am so happy! :)

    USAble. I didn't get to choose them though-- just who my employer chose to go with.

    Thats awesome!  I had a similar situation and we sort of feel like it's too good to be true!!

    That's amazing....congrats.  I am a teacher for the NYCDOE.  Our maternity leave is terrible.  I don't get paid at all.  In order to get paid, I have to use 6 weeks worth my own sick days to get paid.  Guess it's a good thing I'm having the baby in the summer, because we get paid to be off anyway.  Just frustrating that I'll have to leave my baby after 6 weeks.  Crying
