Success after IF

We've dropped a BF session

And while it's nice to be able to immediately make dinner after work, he is such a big boy at dinner now... It makes me sad (and proud). He has been self feeding all week... You should have seen him shoveling noodles and sauteed cabbage into his face today! :) He is changing sooo freaking fast over the last month!!! I miiiight have cried at the dinner table about it earlier this week ;) ETA: and when am I able to cut back on bottles during the day? Not until he can drink cows milk?

Re: We've dropped a BF session

  • Awww, I remember dropping a feeding.  I was emotional about it!  These boys are getting too big too fast!  I don't think I cut back on bottles until cow milk.  He always had three bottles of BM at daycare, but he rarely finished his third one of the day.  Wow, it feels like so long ago, maybe he was only down to two... I can't remember!!

  • Thanks E!!! Man, two tickers looks awwwweeesome on you!! :)
  • I just dropped a bottle this week, instead of dropping that after-pick-up nursing session.  My pumping output dropped way down this month because I've been sick, so at her 9-month pedi visit we decided that she's still getting enough BM if I drop one bottle at child care (that she was barely drinking anyway).

And I know what you mean about dinner time - DD had pasta and cabbage last week too!  I was so surprised that she ate the cabbage; she probably just got carried away because she loves eating pasta so much.  : )

how many bottles/ounces were you sending?  I'm only sending two 5 oz bottles as it is...  I've really been struggling with supply again lately too and just used the very last emergency bag of milk I had frozen...

I actually tested out if he liked cows milk the other day because there have been a lot of days when I need to supplement an ounce or two and I can't find a formula that he doesn't pitch a fit over....  luckily, he GIGGLED with delight when he tasted the cows milk...so I guess that won't be a problem with him if I need to add an ounce or two here and there!

Yeah, I was sending 15 oz a day still at 9 months.  She would sometimes drink them all, so I kept sending them.  The pedi said that at this age she should be at around 20 oz of BM a day, and she was getting probably 25-28 oz and I was struggling mightily to keep up, pump-wise.

I got the okay to introduce WCM in another month or so, so I can start weaning off the pump and be done with it when she hits 12 months in June.

Pedi said if she gets hungry at child care that I can have them offer her solids at this point, so she might start getting the afternoon snack with the "big kids" soon.

I'm glad Jones likes WCM!  I'm sure Nora will too - there isn't too much she doesn't like...we'll see!

  • Droping a seasion is so hard on the emotions. But you guys have made it so far that you should be really proud. As for the bottles durring the day I would wait till he can have cow milk, but you might see a drop in how much he drinks in each bottle.
