This is so weird.
I have been having EXTREMELY bad acne the past couple months maybe? Not sure if it started when I conceived or earlier. Anyway, I've been doing weekly enzyme peels that help temporarily. It's like acne in looks but is extremely dry.
And I just got some lotion that I used to use in the past that really works for me. I figure that maybe since the spots are worse where sun exposure is worst (and I've been walking/outside so much more than normal lately) there was some connection there.
After only a few days of using the lotion, my spots are a lot less angry red and my skin feels a lot better.
But I still don't know WTH it was/is! If it was acne would simple lotion (not acne lotion) really make a difference? The only thing is that it has SPF.
Really weird.
Re: Anyone care to diagnose my face?
Because I'm 40 now (old, lol!), and living in a drier area, I have to moisturize religiously or my face goes haywire. It's a little counterintuitive, right? But you don't want your oil glands to think they need to overcompensate. For me it's all about not aggravating, not rocking the boat in any way.
When my acne is at its worst, my skin is always dry and flaking too--it's so frustrating!
i read/saw somewhere, of course i can't remember where now... that a lot of people think that moisturizing your skin makes it break out more, when actually its the opposite. you should keep your skin moisturized as it actually breaks out more when it's "dry" bc it creates more oil... and more oil means more breakouts!
so yeah, it is possible that just plain ol lotion is helping your skin stop breaking out :-)
For being a grown-up, I've had some pretty bad skin problems. My favorite find (about 4 months ago) is Dr. Bronner's Tea Tree wash. I know that my acne has some bacterial causes, but my skin is also kind of combination and will get worse when it's dried out. I use the Dr. Bronner's and witch hazel and a tinted moisturizer for "foundation." Even for being pg, my skin has been amazing!
Obviously, everyone is different, but I found a travel size bottle of the Dr. Bronner's for $4 or so and figured it was worth a try... I feel like it really cleans my skin without drying it out the same way that most "acne" washes have in the past...
Could it be eczema?
I'll speak to the Dr. B's Tea Tree soap. I use it in a pump dispenser, so watered down. My skin has looked it's best since I started using it a few years ago. Speaking of, I should get some more before I move so I know I have it. Who knows where to get it at the new place!

Losing it...Without Losing it
They're BIG bumps...I don't think it's eczema, it's nothing like what DD's looked like.
Lurking through this board for the first time, but I wanted to offer another option.
Could your acne actually be rosacea? It can get worse with sun exposure, so it makes sense that the lotion with SPF helped.
Just an idea.
