I will be induced tonight at 7:30, as Aaron seems to be a chunky little monkey. As of my appointment on Friday, I was not dilated but he was low and I was thinning. My doctor felt I was still a good candidate for the induction, so we're going for it. Did anyone else go in under the same circumstances? How long was your labor?

Re: Was anyone induced and NOT dilated?
I was. I was given cervidil the night before to start my cervix dialating, etc. I was still only 1-2 cm when they broke my water the next morning. after that I still progressed slowly, but once I hit four cm, things moved along faster. My water was broken at 8:30 a.m. I was fully dialated by 4;15 p.m., and my baby was born at 5:27 p.m. after 27 minutes of pushing.
i was not induced, but i went to the hospital with contractions every 4 minutes ... they had started 12 hours earlier 10 minutes apart. i wasnt even 1 cm when i got there. it took me 16 hours from 1 to 9 cm. ... the nurses said it usually goes faster after the water breaks, so hopefully its not such a lomg time for you!
good luck tonight!! i will watch for your update!! i had a bigger baby too at 8 lb 12 oz and she is gorgeous.
When I was induced I was 0cm and 0% effaced. I was given cytotec, foley balloons, they broke my water, and then pitocin. Overall I was in labor for 34 hours, the last 4 of those were pushing. It was a long induction, but it was my only choice because of pre-e. All was well in the end. Good luck!
Me! I went in last Wed. night to start my induction. Had a cervadil inserted overnight. In the morning, I was a fingertip dilated. I was on pitocin all day and was having contractions, but still didn't make much progress... after being on pitocin all day I was still only a "loose 1" cm and my cervix was still long. Had another cervadil inserted that night and was going to start on pit again the next morning.
I ended up going into labor on my own overnight and by the time the doctor showed up to take out the cervadil, I was having intense contractions. She checked me and I was 6 cm! Needless to say, I didn't end up needing the pitocin. My little guy was born just a few hours later! So there is hope... I ended up being able to have a natural birth, which I thought I'd have to give up on with the induction. Sometimes your body just figures out what to do.
