I actually have a funny story about clown stuff for a nursery.

Me and my mom went to a baby shower of a old family friend's daughter. She got to the last gift from her grandmother and it was in a huge Macy's box. She opens the box and there is a hand made croshayed blanket in it. It is all folded, so she is slowly opening it up. It basically looked like a bunch of colored puzzle pieces. Well she takes it out of the box, opens it up, and there is a life size clown croshayed on it!!! It seriously scared the crap out of me!

LOL they're plushie utes, complete with little beaded egg and heart shaped blood droplet... equal parts cute and creepy. Wish I could take credit, but alas they're a classic from Craftastrophe.net

I love it! I realize that this is obviously not the shared opinion of the rest of you, but here goes: There is nothing inherently scary about clowns. Not one thing. You are allowing cinematic references that are completely inappropriate for children to take over, thus instilling unwarranted fears in your children. Are all of you not allowing dolls either because you're afraid of Chuckie? no stuffed animals because they remind you of Gremlins? Seems cruel to pass off your unfounded insecurities onto your child. Wouldn't it be better to teach them that there is NOTHING to be afraid of when it comes to clowns so they can learn to be rational? Makes more sense not to have any lions, monkeys, elephants, or the other myriad animals that bedeck all things infant which truly are dangerous (wild animals).
