Flow is too fast

I have been having trouble for this last week and a half with breast feeding and had no idea why.  We, also, were dealing with projectile spit up this last week, constant spit up, major gas, etc...

I called the LC and all of my symptoms point to a fast flow and baby is struggling to keep up.

Did anyone else have this issue?  What did you do to manage it?  I hate seeing my little man having to be so uncomfortable after feedings due to major gas bubbles, etc.

    my LO also has these issues and although i havent talked to anyone (LC or dr) about it reading your post makes me think that maybe i have a fast flow too. DS chokes sometimes when he is eating, got horirble gas bubbles and has been spitting up like crazy! i noticed for my LO doing a "bicycle" motion with his legs helps with the gas bubble. i also make sure to burp him frequently and make him take breaks when he is eating. this seems to help everything but the spitting up which he still does quite a bit but the gas bubbles have gotten much better. good luck!

    Things will slow down eventually. Your body will produce much more milk at first and once your baby gets on a schedule, your body will produce accordingly. Just give him little breaks while nursing if you notice he's choking or gagging and like pp said, play with his legs to help alleviate the gas bubbles.

    I express a little before I start to feed him.  Sometimes when it's really fast when my let down occurs, he usually pulls off and at that point I express more milk before having him latch on again.  I actually don't have to do much because it squirts out on it's own.  Poor little guy has gotten shot in the face a couple of times. LOL
