Me again
I have friends coming into town for a day and need some ideas of what we can do with them. They have a 3 y.o. and a 7 m.o., both girls. The husband wants to go to the airforce museum in Dayton. No offense to daytoners, but I'm really not feeling it so I need some better suggestions.
My friends are from New York - so I don't know if the Zoo/aquarium typical things will cut it.
Thanks (again)
Re: Need more advice: re Things to do in Cincinnati
Near the Air Force museum is near yellow springs and people always enjoy yellow springs.
Two places I've never been to, but heard great things about are the sign museum (https://www.signmuseum.net/) and cincinnati nature center (https://www.cincynature.org/aboutcnc.html). I've always wanted to go to the sign museum and I bet the lights and colors will be attractive to the babies, but I don't know about the three year old. And I hear really great things about Cincinnati Nature Center. We plan to join sometime, but I'm not sure if DD will enjoy it much yet.
Honestly I am no help. I think the airforce museum is pretty cool... for the kids, probably not, I would say the aquarium for the babies... But paying for the adults unless you have a pass is pricey...
GL!
The Air Force museum isn't as bad as you think. And the zoo is kinda blah right now with it not yet really being spring as far as the flowers and such go. There is the childrens museum and the aquarium. When my OOT family comes in they always want to visit Jungle Jims. Seriously I didn't think Jungle Jims was THAT big of a deal, but they love it! Krohn conservatory (I don't know what they have going on right now though), the creation museum (never been). I'm not functioning well today so that's all I can think of at the moment.
Depending on how long they will be in, you could take a day trip to Louisville and do the louisville slugger museum and find some other things to get in to around town. That is, if they are in to baseball.
This might be hilarious due to the fact that my visitors are diplomats from Malaysia.
I just giggle-snorted.
hilarious!
When will they be visiting (as it relates to *special* events happening in/around the city)?
Off the top of my head, a couple general ideas (other than what has already been discussed) include:
In addition, we always try and take our OOT guests to Graeter's while they are visiting.
I've never been, but what about the UnMuseum at the Contemporary Arts Center - https://contemporaryartscenter.org/unmuseum? There's also the Civic Garden Center - https://www.civicgardencenter.org/.
Terry's Turf Club is now open for lunch, and I bet the kids would love all the neon signs. I also Googled mom and baby yoga for Cincinnati, and a bunch of places, including Gymboree, Shine Yoga Studio and Yoga Ah!, have classes.
HTH.
If they are in town when a reds game is going on I would do that...Always fun and tons of places downtown to eat. You could also do the newport things...they have the games place and all that.
https://www.entertrainmentjunction.com/cincinnati_entertainment_and_attractions Is in West Chester and I have heard that it is pretty cool. I know they also have one of those bounce house ball places right around that area.
I can't think of names of anything today because well baby brain today!!! Hope this helps...lol
Ooo, along the lines of Hofbrauhaus, there's mecklenberg (https://www.mecklenburgs.net/). I love that place!
Thanks for all the great ideas! We love Terry's Turf Club. I also think that a reds game and maybe a visit to Findlay Market if the Bier Garden is open. We can drink beer and eat my favorite gelato.
I haven't been to Mecklenburg yet - tried once and it was closed because I went on a Sunday.
They'll be here on April 9th. Is 'special' event - opening day? When is that? I'm so not from here
No, opening day is 3/31. I just meant more specific goings on, in/around the city on that particular day. Cincinnati.com has a fairly comprehensive list of special events, by date. For example:
Special Events/Festivals on 4/9
Attractions on 4/9
Visual Arts/Film on 4/9
etc...
We went to Terry's for lunch. They do not have boosters or high chairs. They do not have plastic cups or anything with a lid like that for a kid drink. It is NOT child friendly. It is too small and too crowded with no seating or kid menu.
I am/was hestitant about Terry's Turf Club but was hoping if we went for lunch it would be a bit better. Thanks Buckeye
