What to do for DH's 30th birthday?

DH will be 30 next month and I would really like to do something nice for him. His Dad and SMom will have S for the night and so it would be a waste not to use that time. I'm just at a loss for ideas. I was thinking maybe a room somewhere that is nice (but not too expensive). Any thoughts?

TIA! :)

  • Hey it really depends on what you want to do. Check out Living Social Escapes. They had Suncadia on there for a deal. Or you could check out rates for Downtown Seattle or Portland for a more city kind of deal. There was a deal on Jetsetter yesterday for the Salish lodge that would be nice.

  • There are a lot of good places with deals right now. I think its Living Social that has the Escapes site - its like groupon for hotels etc. They just had one for the Salish Lodge. Maybe pick his fav place to eat or something like that, and then find something close to that?

  • H is really into sports and beer.  For his 30th we went to a Sounders Game and he got to drink his favorite beer down town, he got drunk.  He was a happy camper. Otherwise I thought having a big party at a alehouse down town would had been fun, but he hates celebrating with family sooo, that's why we did it together.

I have been with my DH for almost 11 years now, and every year (up until his 30th) he had made comments about how he had never had a "real" birthday party. So I put together the biggest suprise party ever.

We had it at my brother's house. I got tons of food and non-alcoholic beverages for people to have. I put on the invite that no presents were necessary, but to bring a bottle of alcohol to share. I also got him a giant birthday cake.

He knew that something was up, but he had no idea that everyone would be waiting in my brother's house for him. I even got his BFF to come up from Cali, but hide the fact that he was here from DH. He was so shocked when everyone jumped out and yelled, "surpise" that he yelled, "what the fvck?" It was priceless. And he had the best time ever! I think I will have brownie points forever because of that party! And it wasn't expensive at all!
