Pregnant after IF

I jinxed myself last night on "The Bump"(Help)

For those of you who didnt read my posted last night, I posted that I didnt feel very PG because of lack of symptoms.

BIG JINX: 2AM woke up to raging heartburn. It was sooo bad that I couldnt sleep all night and kept gagging. Throughout the day, the same raging heartburn, nausea and diarrhea. I cant sleep even then I propped my head up and had to call off work today because I feel so weak. I truly hope that this isnt an everyday feeling. I honestly dont know how I can work feeling like this and running to the bathroom.

I was reading a book that said if a woman has heartburn in 1st Trimester, then she will have it the entire pregnancy. Does anyone find this true? How do you relieve the burn. I took Tums because that was the only thing the book said was safe. I cant even eat...this stinks(but worth it)

Help Please!!!!!!

  • No experience with heartburn, but my OB said I could take Pepcid if I need to.

  • That was me last Friday ! I had heartburn and what felt like a huge gas bubble in my belly.

Flat gingerale sipped slowly was my friend. Also clear soup , like just a light chicken broth or maybe a miso soup will be gentler on your tummy plus you won't starve.

    Feel better!

  • I've had issues with heartburn even before getting pregnant. I find that if I take Tums or something like that, it does help. But also, I find if I try to lay on my belly it helps as well. It's getting harder for me to be all the way on my belly, but something about my chest facing down seems to help my heartburn. Good luck!

I'll be honest , it lasted 2 or 3 days. But the ginger ale really helped me. I'd also get some tums too. Hope it goes away soon....

I figured what set it off for me was a slightly spicy shrimp taco. I don't usually eat spicy food... but now for sure I won't !

  • I have had it everyday for the past week.  it was the worst last night and it has been pretty bad today.  Tums and Pepcid are all you can use.  Good luck!

I had the heartburn just about every day during my last pg.  I was eating more than a pack of Tums a day.  I know there are other remedies that are safe, but I just stuck with the Tums because they seemed to work for me.

Also, try not to drink at the same time as your meal.  That helped too.

  • I forgot to add earlier, I found that chocolate, spicy stuff, or anything acidic (tomato based foods, etc) tend to set off my heartburn. And usually it would come on later at night if I ate those foods in the evening. Heartburn sucks!

  • I've not had heartburn but I just came out of what I would call a morning sickness coma. For the past five days I have been so sick... the only thing I can tell you is that I thought that was the way it would be until week 12... but yesterday I started feeling better. I hope you feel better soon!
