Induction with Cervical Balloon

At my appointment today my OB told me that if I haven't had any progress by next Wednesday, which is my due date, that the following Sunday night we will be inducing with a cervical balloon. So far I haven't had any progress. Has anyone ever been induced with a cervical balloon? I'm trying to find out what I should expect.

Re: Induction with Cervical Balloon

  • I had pitocin and the cervical ballon. It hurt a lot when he put it in, but it didn't last long. After that I didn't really notice it except when I had to pee. I was in bed because of the pitocin though, so maybe that's why  I didn't notice it much. It worked really well for me and I ended up pushing after about 12 hours. I ended up having a c section just because she wouldn't fit through my pelvis. :(

  • I did have one and it was not fun, so here's hoping you don't need one! Maybe my docs were off their game, but it took three docs three tries to get mine in and I wish I had insisted on pain meds b/f they even started b/c it was awful just getting it in place. So- this is not meant to freak you out but just to give you a heads-up that you may want to have some meds b/f they get started! GL!
