Keep water and crackers next to your bed. There something about getting out of bed that brings on the nauseous feeling. So lay there very still and as slowly as you can, grab a cracker and eat it before getting out of bed.
Keep snacks with you at all times and when you start feeling nauseous, eat something.
Don't move to fast or the pain of your ligaments stretching will stop you in your tracks.
Start planning your babymoon now.
Don't get offended when you hear your husband muttle "I can't wait until your not pregnant anymore"
Take your PNVs at night. They always made me puke if I took them in the mornings.
"Morning" sickness can come at any time of day.
Jolly Ranchers are your friend.
Pregnancy is not an excuse to eat everything in sight, it's a LOT harder to take the weight off PP than you think.
1st Tri is very scary with every little twinge making you think the worst. With that being said, stay away from Dr. Google. It will do nothing but freak you out even worse.
Enjoy your pregnancy and don't wish the time away (I wish I was out of 1st tri, I wish the anatomy scan was here already, I wish I was in labor, etc.)
Spend as much quality time with DH and any pets you have now. Right after I came home from the hospital I cried for days that my dogs weren't getting loved enough
Spend every Saturday morning possible laying around in bed with DH. 35ish weeks from now you won't be able to do that anymore!
put as much into a baby savings as you can for things you did not get on your registry (if you register and have a shower), for emergency room visits (I've had 3 in this pregnancy), ect....
if you are working, don't quit. my dh wanted me to quit my job and focus on "baking" the baby, getting things ready, and basically taking care of myself (not getting worn down, over-doing it, ect). i REGRET doing this. I'm bored out of my mind with nothing to do, and no extra cash. i even looked for a part time job just to pass the day by, but no one wants to hire a pregnant lady.
If you get morning sickness, the trick is to eat something small every couple of hours. DO NOT let yourself hungry! When I was hungry, that made it so much worse.
Try to remember a lot of odd symptoms can be totally normal. Lots of women spot during their pregnancy, for instance. While you should definitely let your OB know if that happens-it doesn't automatically mean the worst. So try to not be overly worried in the early days.
Plan on going to concerts, movies, etc while you can do it easily. If you want to take a babymoon, plan it for early 2nd tri.
Savor every moment of your pregnancy. 40ish weeks might seem like a long time, but it goes by in a flash.
Don't fit your life around the baby, fit the baby into your life. Meaning if you wanna go to that concert while pregnant and still can, do so. Don't stop living your life just because your pregnant.
Try and have everything done by 35 weeks, i.e nursery, clothes put away, diapers ready, etc. From there on out, I wasn't up to doing anything. I worked and slept, LOL.
Spend a lot of alone time with your spouse/SO because it won't ever be "just the two of you" again.
Enjoy movies, concerts, anything like that over your pregnancy...they don't stop after the baby is here, it just takes more planning to get it done.
Get ready for EVERYONE to give you advice and it will be totally conflicting and it gets extremely annoying.
Also get ready for people to lose their filter. For some reason people think they can say and do anything they want to pregnant women. Stuff they totally wouldn't do or say to a non-pregnant person.
Don't let people scare you into thinking you'll never sleep again...you do I promise. The newborn period is very much a sleep deprivation period, but over time sleep does return. Saying that though, enjoy uninterrupted sleeping now, and like Amelia said enjoy sleeping in because sleeping in does somewhat halt after baby is here.
Oh and document as much as you can about pregnancy. I am so glad I did. I plan on comparing it to a next pregnancy if I have one. I am also glad I took monthly/then weekly belly shots to see how much I grew.
Drink LOTS of water, I mean even more than the baby books call for. I honestly believe that has been what has kept me from feeling like crap. You can get easily dehydrated during pregnancy without even realizing it.
Enjoy the old wives tales that you will hear about, but don't put much thought into their accurateness....all of them have been wrong for me, but it was fun to think about.
Ask lots of questions in your OB appts. They see pregnant women everyday, so they don't necessarily think to tell you all the small stuff.
...and I agree, don't let being pregnant stop you from doing the things you want to do like movies, concerts, etc. If you feel up to it, then do it. (this goes for exercise too!)
If you don't love your OB, now's the time to change. Don't wait until closer to your second tri to move! I changed ob's at 8 weeks and I'm glad I did -- I love my new practice.
Eat BEFORE you're hungry -- something small every 2-3 hours -- to avoid the worst of MS. If crackers and ginger ale don't work for you, don't fret. The only thing that really helped me was dry, salty food with a lot of protein. The big thing is to eat what you're hungry for in the 1st tri -- it might be the only thing you can get down without wanting to vom
Don't beat yourself up over the 1st tri fatigue... You'll feel better in the 2nd tri. Focus on you and your little belly buddy!

I've been seeing my OBGYN for over 2 years now. I love him. I even made H come in and meet him before we got married so we could talk about questions we had for whenever we decided to start TTC. Adam is comfortable with him too, so I think we'll stick with him.
Question: Is 5 weeks too early for bloat? I feel huge, but I don't know if that's me being crazy and imagining it. What do you do for bloat?
The peeing thing has already started. I don't know if it's because I'm drinking more fluids or not, but the past few days, I've had to pee constantly!! I've seriously gone probably 7 times since I got to work at 7:30 this morning!!
on the subject of peeing, don't skip out on the good TP. DH got the bright idea to buy cheaper TP since I'd be going more and it would cost less to get the cheaper stuff...BAD idea. I made him go back and get the good soft stuff. My lady bits were irritated after using the cheap stuff after a week.
I was sick the whole 9 months and i finally tired Preggie Drops(5.95 for 20 at Motherhood) and they were the ONLY thing that help me. Like someone else said being preg is not an excuse to eat everything in sight and get HUGH.

Nope! I was bloated IMMEDIATELY and stayed that way until I 'popped'. My mom took one look at me the first time she saw me after I found out --and before I even told her-- (I peed on a stick a few hours before thanksgiving dinner -- the first one we ever had at our house. talk about a mindfreak!) and said "you're pregnant". I was 5w, 3d.
That is WONDERFUL that you have an OB that you trust! I didn't have that kind of relationship with my first one, and I had no idea what I was missing!

Definitely not too early for bloat. The whole reason I tested is because a favorite pair of pants of mine wouldn't button easily one morning. DH and I weren't TTC (I was acutally on BC when I got KU) When they wouldn't button I got so upset and couldn't figure out why I was getting so "fat" all of a sudden. Then I realized I was over a week late for AF.

hahahah... my husband and I have had the conversation before about how there are certain things that you just can't go cheap on... toilet paper and cheese are at the top of that list!!!

Yes pre natal vit at night, I would continously burp them.
Sleep! Sleep! Sleep!
Enjoy the kicks and watching LO move, spend as much time watching the screen during the sonograms(make them kick you out).

You are going to pee like every 5 minutes. Be sure to have plenty of toilet paper.
Enjoy the sleep during the first trimester. You won't be getting it later.
Perfect your smile and nod. You'll be getting lots of unsolicited advice.
Something I didn't know...drooling is a pregnancy symptom. Just FYI.
So I'm late to this post and anything I would have said has already been posted...
I'll just say congratulations! Enjoy every minute (also, the belly pictures and sleeping in are great ideas).
