bathing at the hospital

I'm finalizing my hospital bag and don't worry- i'm not asking "what should i bring??" But i'm curious about the shower situation, especially if you just gave birth. Did you need your own towel/washcloth? Did you wear flip flops in the shower, or did you trust that it was sanitized? Did you end up drying your hair? I am bringing my own (travel size) toiletries, but not sure what else to plan on for bathing at the hospital.

good ? never thought about towels or flip flops but assuming the hospital I will be at provides them. Haven't had an overnight stay since I was 5 but my dad has and I know mom has never brought towels. Not sure about the hair situation for me. I know there will be a ton of pictures but kind of like that I have an excuse to not be "pretty" for a while.

I was able to shower the second day (I had a c-section). The hospital provided the towels/wash clothes and YES, MH and I both wore flip flops while showering. I brought my own hair dryer, even though the hospital provided one. We had our own toiletries, but I was surprsied that there were travel size shampoos/conditioners/soaps in my hospital bathroom as well. HTH! Other than that, I really didn't need anything else (I did have my hair straightner, wasn't sure if I would use it (I did!), but that's about it with showering.

The hospital provided plenty of towels and washcloths. No flip flops needed...they came and cleaned the bathroom every day while I was there so I knew it was clean. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom, but it was pretty crappy. I also had a razor so I could shave my legs, and basic makeup.

Our hospital provided towels and washcloths. The towels weren't the best as they were pretty small but they got the job done. I brought flip flops to wear in the shower just because I'm paranoid about public areas and bare feet. I also brought my hair dryer but I never once used it. My hair is short so I just towel dried it. Hope this helps.

I used hospital towels (as there was a bit of bleeding while drying) even though they were cheap grade motel type towels.

I did bring flip flops, my own toiletries and a razor. However, I had noticed during the tour that they had a hair dryer in bathroom, so I just used that. I didn't do my hair per se, but I just dried it for a min or two so it wasn't dripping all down my back making me cold!

When we did our tour they explained what was provided for bathing/showering. They have hair dryers in each room, towels, washclothes, travel size soaps, and all tubs/showers are sanitized.

That being said, I'm still bringing my own soaps and may bring my own towel because I'm used to using bath sheets and towels just feel so tiny lol

I didn't bring my own towels-- they had them there. They weren't great, but I was bleeding so I wouldn't have wanted to mess up my own towels anyway.

I did bring toiletries. I brought a hair drier too, but I didn't end up using it... I found that when I was there, I didn't really care much about how I looked.

My hospital has thin, tiny towels - usually I give my patients 4-5 of them, they're that small. I like to get wrapped up after my showers so I'm taking a dark-colored beach towel. Also bringing my own toiletries as our hospital stuff sucks just as much as the towels.

I brought my own toiletries (though the hospital did provide travel sized Bath & Body Works toiletries). They had towels. I brought flip flops, but totally forgot to wear them (I guess that's what 36 hours of labor will do to you--after we moved to recovery, the first thing I did was shower). I didn't bother with my hair or make up even through I brought all that stuff. We ended up going home the next day anyway!

I didn't need anything except deodorant would have been nice to remember... it slipped my mind.

I would assume that if they let me labor with my water broken in the bathtub that it was VERY clean!

I brought my own towel. They had some there, but they were fairly small. I brought a hair dryer and straightening iron. My hair can be really wild and takes forever to dry so I halfway dried it and then just straightened out my bangs. I bought flip flops but didnt wear them.

I used the hospital towels...never had the time to blowdry my hair. my baby was bfeeding every hour it seemed. thank god milk came in quickly! I just did my makeup quick and pulled my hair in a headband with ponytail. The pics the hospital photographer did came out fine and I felt so much better after showering. I brought a body pillow that doubled as a Bfeeding pillow. drinks and snacks. never read any books or played an ipod. the labor was quick and I really didn't care about entertainment at that point.
