Filing for divorce

Hi there,

Been a lurker for awhile now - I really don't want to get into the whole story right now but MH is an addict "recovering" but with same behaviors and I really want to file divorce...talked to a lawyer about a month ago.

Did anyone file and have XH served with papers? If so were you living together at the time?

    I served mine but he was living in an apartment at the time.

    No, we were not living together. He was served via Certified Mail w/ return receipt to his PO box (for his business).

    I had kicked him out and he went to my lawyers office to pick up papers.

    I'm sorry that you are dealing with this.  My XH is an addict as well.

    MH is in prison and getting served next week. I contemplated serving him myself but my attorney said absolutely not. Having a third party do it ensures that no one questions whether or not the documents were changed or altered.

    I'm sorry to hear what you are going through.  My XH is an addict as well.  He was living with his parents when I had him served with papers.  Took awhile, but he eventually answered my request.
