Projectile vomiting (possible Pyloric Stenosis)?

Has anyone LO had this issue?  Kevin started projectile vomiting on Friday after they started thickening his feeds with oatmeal. They've eliminated the oatmeal and so far he's only had one projectile incident since then so hopefully it's not stenosis.  Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this issue.  Thanks!

  • Abby did this. It ended up being terrible reflux. She is finally over it at 7months actual! GL!

  • Both of my twins had reflux.  DS was the vomit/spit up king.  He vomited 14 times in 12 days and we finally did an ultrasound to check for pyloric stenosis.  He didn't have it and was on zantac and prevacid until he was 15.5 mo old.  The ultrasound was a piece of cake.  The only prob was the not eating for 3 hrs prior.

  • Thanks.  I'm not sure if I want it to be a chronic, treatable condition or an emergent, one time fix thing.  I just feel so bad for him and want him to feel better.
  • Reid had what appeared to be terrible reflux and one Saturday he started having exorcist style vomiting.  They took him that Monday for tests and found he did have Pyloric Stenosis.  While they were doing the surgery they found a malrotation of his intestines as well.  Pyloric Stenosis is rare in preemies but it does happen.  They did an upper gi to when they diagnosed it.
  • DD had a severe vomiting issue. Turns out to just be severe reflux. She is on a couple of meds to control it, plus we try to keep her still for about 30 minutes after feeding. We also found out she had a milk protein intolerance, so we changed her formula and that helped out a lot as well.
