I am the mom of a now 5 year old micropreemie. DD was born @ 23 weeks 6 days weighing 1 pound 4 ounces measuring 12.75 inches. She was an emergency c-sec due to severe pre-e at 23 weeks. She was in the NICU for 108 days. She is currently an Ambassador for our local March of Dimes.
Conditions in the NICU: BPD, chronic lung disease, PDA, NEC, ROP, IVH grade 1 bilaterally, Laser surgery for ROP right eye twice left eye once, hypotension, many blood transfusions, ventilator, oscillator type vent, vapotherm, ng tubes, sepsis
Conditions after NICU d/c: severe nearsightedness/ glasses at 10 months, weight gain, developmental delays, growth delays, speech delays, endocrinology
Conditions still: speech issues and severe nearsightedness
I wanted to join the board and say hello. I am by no means an expert but have experienced alot in the preemie world and would be glad to answer questions or give support.
Re: Hello
Welcome! Many ladies on here are doing the March for Babies walks, and we have a few other ambassador families on here too!
It's great to "meet" someone whose preemie is a little older, and to see how she is doing. I'm glad to hear that things are going well - sounds like it was a long road.
My son was a 23w5d-er who is now almost 9 months actual (5 adjusted). He's doing great at home (after a long 147 day NICU stay) except we are battling our first cold. No fun, but so far he's handling it ok.
Again, welcome! Hope to see you around!
