Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Rec. your baby carrier

My 9 1/2 mo son weighs about 25 lbs. He is too tall/heavy for the front carrier and hates the stroller. It kills my back to carry him because he's so big. Do any of you have a backpack carrier? Which would you recommend?

Re: Rec. your baby carrier

  • I have a Beco and love it.  I have the Butterfly but I know many people like the Beco Gemini because you can hip carry and front carry (front facing) in it.  The Butterfly allows for front carry facing in or back carry.  At this point, he loves back carry, so I doubt I'd hip carry or front carry anymore anyway.

The Beco is very similar to the Ergo imo.  The only thing that sold me on the Beco rather than the Ergo was because I liked the pattern Embarrassed

  • I'm all for cute patterns. No shame there! Thanks. Where did you buy it?
  • Also, do you know the weight limit? I can't find it anywhere on the sites.
  • This site has good ergo alternatives: https://www.frogmama.com/

    I'm getting the Boba 2G toddler carrier for So's 1st birthday. https://www.frogmama.com/catalog.php?item=792

  • I ordered directly from the Beco sight. https://www.becobabycarrier.com/

I think the one I got is something lik 45lbs for the max weight.....I definately won't be lugging him around at that point, but it's nice to know it allows for incredibly large children ;)

  • I have the Beco Butterfly II as well. That thing is a lifesaver! I tried on both the Beco and the Ergo at a local store, and liked the Beco better. It's only downside is that it has no pockets to stash keys, etc. and if I remember correctly, the Ergo does.

I put DD2 on my  back and take her just about everywhere. The zoo, the mall, running errands, etc. It works like a charm when I have to take her somewhere and need her to be quiet -- she's been on preschool tours, etc. and does SO well as long as she's in the Beco.

  • great, now I'm second guessing my choice with all you becco advocates. (goes to check out the comparison again)
