Preemies

Introduction and a question

Hi all i am usually on the IF board but i think i need to be here as well. I had my twins almost 4 weeks ago at 33 weeks.  They are doing great and only had to stay in the NICU for 3 weeks.  They have been home with me since friday.  I love having them home with me.  The question that i have is My DD shakes her hands and feet when i talk to her. Is this normal in preemies or should i contact the dr and see what they say.  TIA

Re: Introduction and a question

  • Congratulations and welcome! Is she shaking or like thrashing/waving them around? My ds thrashes/waves his arms and legs around when he is excited. It never hurts to call the doctor just to ease your mind.

THIS!  The Dr. told me it was because their nerves aren't fully developed yet.   Of course, it's always a good idea to ask the Dr.

    Congratulations!!!!

Yes - prems can be kind of jerky  with their movements - especially at the young age....your LO isn't even at term yet, right?  It's a good idea to keep an eye on things, though.

Congrats, by the way on your little ones, and on a short NICU stay! Good luck with twins!!!
