This from my SIL. Her LO's 1st birthday was a couple of weeks ago and they invited everyone via FB. Which is fine. But don't judge the way I choose to invite people to ours! GRRRR!

It's his first birthday, get the kid real invitations. Plus it's your money to waste. Why does she care?
I have no idea why she cares. Since the minute she found out I was pregnant, too, every stinkin' thing has been a competition. I thought it would be FUN to be pregnant together and have babies so close in age. I thought wrong.

I can't stand competition moms. Wait til their kids are in sports if they judge first birthday invitations. They're gonna be the ones banned from the games.

I like sending invites out but my family thinks it is odd. They all just call to invite people to parties/showers/graduations. The thing is I have a vendor on etsy that I like and she makes stuff for me. The design is 15 or 20 bucks and the prints cost me under 17 cents to print out (4X6).
Sorry your SIL is turning everything into a competition. I have a friend whose son is 3 months younger than Matthew and she is always trying to compare the two. I just avoid her now.

I have been battling a similar thing, only it's DH's family. Since DH have been together, every event I have hosted, I have recieved so many snarky comments like "Wow, this must of cost a lot" or "You don't do anything small do you" or "Everything you do is overkill" etc. I let MIL and FIL help with DD baptism, and I was majorly diappointed. Everything I wanted to do was shot down, saying her baptism didn't need to be that extravagent; I really didn't get a say... and it was MY daughter! I really regret not doing what I wanted, and caring too much about what other people thought. DD's 1st bday is around the corner and DH and I are throwing her a carnival, and I am doing it how I want.
The bottom line and my point: You're making your memories for your child and your family, Fvck anyone who tries to make you feel bad or put you down over what you want to do. Do what you want, it's nobody's business, and it's not thier dime or thier place to say otherwise. There is always going to be jealous people and everyone will have an opinion on what you should do with your child, even something as petty as having invites. Try to remember opinions are kinda like buttholes, everyone has one and they all stink.
I sent out a Facebook invite because it wa the easiest way to get RSVP's. I'm still sending out regular invitations just because I think they are cute! Who cares how people choose to spend their money?

Recommend your vendor...currently looking for custom invites without the custom price. TIA

And I'll probably even spring for icecream.
