Confused - what protocol am I on? (saifw/paifw)
I just got the call that I'm going in tomorrow for a CD3 u/s (!!!). Apparently, I will start aygestin 2x a day starting tomorrow. Then, Lupron starts CD10. Then, I'm supposed to get a "Lupron menses" and I am not sure what that means. And around CD17 after that Lupron menses, I start stims. Projected ER on CD14.
I *thought* I was going to be on the long lupron protocol but this doesn't sound like it.
Feedback please? Thanks ladies!

I'm not sure what aygestin is...aside from that, it sounds like long lupron.
You get a lupron period on lupron, and when u get that...u have to go in for a vag cam date.

I thought long lupron started lupron suppression on CD21/7dpo?

2/06 - surprise pregnancy - twins
3/06 - m/c 1st baby at 6 weeks
5/06 -2nd baby had no heartbeat at 14 wks.
D&E - Bled out. Blood transfusions. Week in ICU - Cheated Death!
Diagnosis: Blood clotting and bleeding disorder, immune issues, & cervical stenosis
5/10 - 1st IVF cycle - BFN
FET - 10/12/10 - BFN
1/11 - IVF with PGD - BFN
IVF - May - BFN
6/11 New RE - fingers crossed!
9/11 - IVF - 4 transferred
10/13 - BFP!!

Aygestin can be used in place of BCPs. Are you stopping the Aygestin after starting Lupron? Like with Provera, you usually get a withdrawal bleed so many days after stopping it. This would be your Lupron period.
It definitely sounds like long lupron to me. I used estrace/provera instead of BCPs for my long lupron cycle. They overlapped the estrace/provera with Lupron and then I stopped estrace/provera and had a withdrawal bleed (Lupron period). Then I had a baseline u/s and then started stims!

Me= 37 and DH = 41
Dx: DOR, Endo, APA+ (really high beta 2 glycoprotein antibody and high everything else tested), heterozygous MTHFR mutation, positive for lupus anticoagulant, high FSH, low AMH and both tubes blocked (per HSG on 3/8/11)
IVF #1 - long lupron (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized; ET 2 blasts and 1 frozen = BFN
IVF #2 - a version of antagonist with EPP (with HGH, intralipids, lovenox and BA); 6 retrieved, 4 mature, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts and 1 frozen blast transferred on day 5 = BFN.
IVF #3 April was postponed to May, May was canceled. June/July was canceled. Had a cyst aspiration and then began IVF #3 in August. ER on 8/22; ET on 8/24 with AH. +HPT on 9/5. Beta #1 (11dpo) = 3; Beta #2 (15dpo) = 29; Beta #3 (17dpo) = 60; Beta #4 (19 dpo) = 118. Heartbeat at 6 weeks 6 days =132. Lil is here!

It sounds like long lupron without bcp. If you were on bcp, you'd start lupron later in your cycle.

Yes, I stop Aygestin 3 days or so after starting Lupron. Does it matter that I am starting Aygestin on CD3, and Lupron on CD10? That would make my Lupron period come around CD16 or so. Is it normal to have a non-normal cycle length the cycle before my IVF cycle?

Some REs have you on BCPs/or alternatives to make your cycle longer, some make it shorter and some actually go with your cycle length. It all depends on your RE. I had one cyle that was extended (my normal cycle is usually 28-30 days long they made if 41 or so days long) and one that was shortened (it was only about 10 days long). In my case, my clinic has actual start dates. So they adjust your cycle so that you can make a start date. Some REs have other reasons!

Gotcha, thanks so much ST! And yes, it looks like what they are doing is shortening my cycle. And apparently they call it the long lupron protocol. Also, the nurse said the most common protocol in their office is to use lupron in conjunction with Aygestin, rather than start lupron on CD21/dpo.
