2nd time mommies re: weight gain

This is kind of a follow-up post from the "What are you going to do differently this time" post from the other day.

I noticed most everyone said they want to gain less this pregnancy.  So what are you going to do differently this time to make sure you don't gain as much?

I gained 45 pounds last time and worked out up till 7 months pregnant.  What will you change about your diet?

Re: 2nd time mommies re: weight gain

  • This will be my third child. I did not excersise much with my other two because I worked up until delievery with both of them, so I was too tired to do anything.

This time, I am staying at home so I will just put in a litltle more walking time and stay away from the Blizzards!

  • I ate a lot of take out my 3rd tri with DS because DH was deployed.  THis time I will stick with healthy home cooked meals!

  • I only gained 30lbs with DD which isn't too bad, but I did not eat great or exercise much.  I have a park about 6 blocks from my house that I plan on walking to each day with DD when it warms up and all the snow is gone.  I am also going to try and eat better.  Right now I am just eating what sounds good, but over the next few weeks I am going to improve my choices.

  • I probably wont excercise too much, I know I should but it's hard.

I just plan on not eating Baskin Robbins every night and stay away from Mcdonald's apple pies. I've been watching what I eat and eating small amounts throughout the day.

  • two things

one- I will pray I don't have low blood pressure again and can work out

two- I will not eat everything that pops into my head aka, fair food, ice cream, gummy worms, chips and cheese dip.

    ~*DUE MARCH 5th 2014*~

  • I gained 50 with DS and would like to stay below 40 if not closer to 30 this time.

    1) my diet is already better than it was in the 1st & 2nd tri w/ DS.  I plan to maintain this (barring m/s challenges)

    2) I plan to walk and swim

    3) if I notice the numbers rising too quickly, I'll be more inclined to do something about it - whether that's trying to cut calories a bit but still maintaining nutrients or increasing walking/activity.

I wouldn't say I "let myself go" last time as my diet wasn't too bad or anything, but I didn't exercise much at all and just kind of let things happen.  This time I plan to keep a closer eye on my weight gain and overall fitness.

  • I gained 29 with both pregnancies.  If anything, I'm going to enjoy this one even more, by eating even more, hahaha!!!  I had no trouble losing the weight, perhaps with the help of bfing, so if I gain a little more I'm not going to worry  :)

  • I gained about 25lbs with my first, and I was back to my PP 2 weeks after I gave birth. I definitely didn't binge & eat every single thing I wanted. I really want to try and focus on healthy eating again this pregnancy.

It was such a blessing not having to worry about dieting when I was trying to enjoy my newborn.

  • I gained 75lbs with #1, 40lbs with #2 and hope to keep it around 30 this time.  I'm going to try to eat better this time!  I worked with the last two and walked as much as I could so I will do that this time also. Hoping that I can limit all the junk food cravings that I had the last 2 times in the 3rd tri.

Oh and with DD1 I was on bedrest for a few weeks and did nothing but eat!!

  • I gained over 60 pounds with DD. This time, I am trying to eat smaller meals more often (said after I just ate 4 peanut butter cookies) and not everything that pops into my head. Want to keep it around 30 pounds. I take DD to the park every day and usually chase her around there. That is great exercise and living in NYC, I walk every where. Will keep on doing that.

  • I gained 30 with my daughter, lost all but 5 by 6 weeks PP.  Then, after I weaned her, put about 20 back on almost instantly.  This time my goal is to gain nothing during the first tri by exercising and eating very healthy.  Then I'll try to keep it to a healthy minimum.  It scares me how easily I lost and then gained it back, so I know to be much more careful this time around.

  • I gained 23 pounds with my DD, but I was already over weight. Thankfully I lost it all two weeks post partum (not sure how that happened, but loved it). This time, I'm even more over weight. I was already on a weight loss program before I got pregnant and had lost 17 of 30 pounds so far. I hope I can continue to loose weight with my current plan, but I see the doctor on Friday and I'll ask her what she thinks.

  • I gained 37 with my daughter, but I was technically underweight to begin with... This time I hope to cut 10lbs off that.  And I really, really hope not to have another 9lb baby.

my plan: walk more, eat less.

  • I gained 33 lbs last time and it took me 10 months to lose all of (that last 10 lb just wouldn't budge for the longest time!). This time around I'd like to gain closer to 25 lb. and I plan to just not indulge so much. I was really active my last pregnancy and hope to continue that this time around...just without feeling the need to eat anything and everything I want whenever I want it!
