July 2011 Moms

Have we done an exercise check in? If not, let's go!

Is everyone still exercising? What have you been doing?

I log my workouts on the daily mily and livestrong. Daily Mile sent me my report for last week, I have to AW myself- some of you may think this is not a lot, or maybe you do- I don't know how to gauge it really, but considering at 25 weeks I'm still able to exercise 4 days a week, I am happy.

Last week I logged just about 13.5 miles on the elliptical (although 1.5 miles was walking) and in addition to that 2, 30 minute strength training sessions.

Over the past 4 weeks though, i've logged about 35 miles- again on the elliptical (only probably 3-5 were walking) and at least 1-2 strength training sessions each week.

So this week my week looks like this:

Today- I only had time to 35 minutes of cardio

Wednesday- hopefully will get to do same amount of cardio + strength training- it may end up being an off day though due to after work plans potentially.

Thursday- 45-60 min of cardio (or Wednesday plans)

Friday- either Thursday or Wednesday plans

Saturday- it's H's birthday. If I can't go tomorrow, I will go Saturday & do Wed routine.

How are you guys doing? What are your plans?

  • I went for a walk around the neighborhood this morning...

  • I'm continuing to do water fitness classes for an hour three times a week.  I love it - I feel like I get a good workout but I'm not putting any undue stress on my body!

  • Convinced DH to cut a nice walking/nature trail around our property for my birthday last Saturday. We have 10 acres of beautiful tall pine forest but have only been there a year and a half and I've always wanted a trail. It was time!

Together, with lots of hard work, we made a nice wide trail that takes about 20 minutes to go all the way around. We've walked it every evening since :)

  • I've been doing the Bar Method 45 minute workout 3 days a week, a half hour on a stationary bike 3 days a week, and walking as much as I can, whenever I can. I also stretch about 5-6 times a day.

This sounds wonderful. I may look into doing something like this.

As for me, I've totally slacked recently. I had an amnio 11 days ago, so was taking it easy after that, but I'm pretty sure I can start back now and am just using that as an excuse.

  • Yesterday I worked out, but had to stop halfway through. Today I'm going to do this:

    3 rounds
    20 wall ball #12-14
    20 one-armed kettlebell swings 12kg
    20 push ups
    20 pull ups

  • I walk the dog. That's my exercise. I am pretty slow to gain weight, (I know working out has strength benefits too) so I don't really feel the need to push myself to do it. I didn't work out before really, so I don't think it's good for me to start up a work out plan in the middle of my pregnancy.

  • I swam 2,500 meters on Sunday.  Yesterday I walked 3 miles and went to pilates class.  Today I am just walking 3 miles (it is my off day!).

I am starting deep water aerobics on Saturday.  I am excited!  The DH thinks I am going to be the youngest person in the class. :)  I am hopeful that since it is in deep water it will be more challenging than a normal class.

  • 20 minutes on elliptical and 10 minutes walking on treadmill at the gym yesterday.

Same will happen tonight after being up and walking around at work for four to five hours.

  • I try to walk my dog 2 miles most days.  But that's it, I've totally slacked off.

  • I used to be very active before getting KU, but after a totally lazy and sick first tri, I've been trying to eat healthy and exercise for the past few weeks..hoping to keep it going until L & D. Typical workout: 20 minutes on the eliptical, 20 minutes of weights/squats/floorwork depending on the day, and then 20 minutes of either walking or the exercise bike. I am feeling so good these days about exercising..just hope I didn't do too much damage in the first tri when all I did was sit on my butt and eat junk food!

That's when I gained the most weight honestly. I felt sick when I didn't eat. Cheese and bread were my friends. I only worked out maybe 2-3 days a week during certain weeks of the first tri. Not until I hit about 14/15 weeks was I consistently back to exercising.

    I'm sure you'll be fine!

Keep up the good work, ladies!!

  • Wow this daily/weekly tracker thing you have going sounds really thorough!

I don't know mileage per week or anything like that, but each day (minus one - two rest days) I do 40-50 min on the elliptical and strength training.  Flipping days from upper body to lower body.

I was going to prenatal yoga, but my monthly membership ran out and it's only available 2x a week which wasn't worth the $$. I'd like to buy a DVD to maintain it, but there are so many so we'll see what pans out!

Sounds like everyone's getting some activity throughout the day!  Awesome!

  • I'm 24 weeks and still working out a minimum of 4-5 days/week. I take a Combat class Sun/Mon/Thurs and lift weights on Tues/Wed. Exercise is my stress relief and makes me feel good..esp when I want to indulge a bit on sweets :o)
