I go off to HEB to get some very needed supplies and I miss the WHOLE thing!?! Darn you diapers and sugar ants! (yeah, I had to get diapers and ant bait.)
I know brideonjuly8 had a post already but it's so cryptic and I get so little time to myself dedicated solely to internet gossip involving people I really don't know. It's a shame, really.
Re: Why did she break-up w/ her OB?
Really? Really?! Well that's just dumb.
Watch out! She's going to call you RUDE!!
Because she is a
Wait, so she's a Veruca Salt? I WANT MORE DADDY!
i missed it all too!
boooo!
as far as travel goes....(i'm a flight attendant). technically women are supposed to not be able to fly after X months pg, but who in their right mind is going to ask?!? that is a lawsuit waiting to happen!! she could just be overweight. the same would go for cruiseships. ***i know that is not the point here****no flames. i'm just saying for others who were wondering how that worked.
Durnit. I missed it all too. And I was just thinking yesterday how low-key it was on the board. Of course I missed all the drama - argh!
Amy
What's the cause of action for that lawsuit? I don't think anyone would have standing for that.
I really just wanted to let this go, but just the thought that a 3rd person is posting crap about me just makes me sick to my stomach. Do you all have nothing better do that just hunt for drama on here and spread rumors? I've talked to several people about this issue. including family just to make sure I was not being crazy, and every single one of them thought that it's not the huge deal you are making it. I was just trying to get some advice. I'm 100% positive that if it was your money that you spend on a vacation then you would at least think about what your options are. No, I didn't dump my OB. I think one person said something negative and then people just started feeding off each other and starting saying all these things that were not even true.
I don't think my Dr. would give me a note saying it was safe to go if it wasn't, I'm going to go with a MEDICAL Dr. and not take advice from a cruise line, thanks. And also thanks for making me feel like absolute crap on top of everything I was going through, truly thanks.
I'm sorry you're feeling bad. This board is not mean spirited and I'm sorry that you're feeling like it is. Honestly, it was just the tone of your post that sparked your responses. As others have said, if you had approached it as "I have this dilemma - any thoughts on what I can do?" rather than "My OB is a jerk b/c she won't lie on the cruise ship documentation, I'm thinking of either forging paperwork from her OR switching to a new OB and lying to her", I think you would have gotten different replies.
I hope it works out for you and you're able to enjoy a nice vacation!
Wait. What? Who is the third person posting crap about you? What was said that wasn't true?
If you want this to go away, I think the best thing to do is let this issue die. You asked for comments/advice and the ladies here disagreed. You asked if it was too extreme to change OB's because of this issue, and the ladies said that is was. I am truly at a loss here for figuring out how you are so upset about this.
I would totally try to figure out my options if it were my money, but asking my doc to change my due date, considering forging a doc's note, and changing doctors so that I could go on a cruise are not options I would consider.
You mentioned this several times, so I'm just going to comment.
I'm sure that your doc said it was safe. And it probably is. And it sucks that the cruise line isn't going to bend the rules because your doctor says it is okay. But, how is the cruise line supposed to know that this is a legitimate/honest/whatever doctor that has examined you & determined that it is safe for you? Isn't it possible that someone, somewhere is asking their friend-who-just-so-happens-to-have-a-medical-degree to write them a similar note even though this "doctor" hasn't examined them and determined that it really is safe? You yourself even approached the idea of finding another doctor that would alter your EDD a little bit so you could comply with the cruise line policy.
At the end of the day, the cruise line is in the business of making money. If, heaven forbid, something were to happen to you and/or your baby while you were on the cruise - they would be opening themselves up to a lawsuit. And lawsuits don't make money.
Look. I'm sorry your cruise may turn out to be a bust. Yeah, it sucks. But as several other people have mentioned....it wasn't the "dude this sucks that our cruise line has this policy" sentiment that got people riled up. It was the "wahwahwahwah why does my doctor have to be such a beyotch and (>gasp<) be honest" comments that really got people going.
Dude, you need to put your big girl panties on and just get over this. This is the internet. It's the world's biggest game of telephone. Your original post came off b!tchy and entitled and you got schooled. It happens.
Good luck with the cruise. I hope y'all can work something out and enjoy a babymoon before your little one arrives.
And not to add to the "rudeness" but when did you book this cruise? You were already pregnant right? You don't think you hold just a little responsibility booking a cruise so close to the cutoff date? What if you had other issues that put you on bedrest for a couple weeks? It is a sucky situation when it is only a few days but maybe you shouldn't have booked a cruise without any sort of trip insurance or way to rebook it.
ETA: the girls on here aren't really rude. They just don't sugar coat everything all the time.I am not sorry you're feeling bad at all. Frankly, you sound like a spoiled child. I don't feel bad when I tell Leo he can't watch 3 hours of Caillou no matter how much he wants to, and I don't feel bad saying that your diatribe against your doctor was ridiculous regardless of the amount of money you spent on the cruise. I mean come on, you seriously considered forging a doctor's note. I remember doing stuff like that too - in middle school.
eta: And I want to say again: The flippancy you displayed regarding the ability of a 24 weeker to survive was gross. Cruise, no cruise, whatever your doctor says - do yourself a favor and look into this whole "pregnancy" thing little more before you say something like that to the wrong person.
