1 year birthday announcement not invite? Cheesy?

So I wanted to send out a picture or something of DD to my family that lives totally across the country and cant come to party... If I send a card from like snapfish or something with her pic .. what would I say on it?

Is that weird to do? Should I just send regular pictures in an envelope?

    At 3, 6, 9 & 12 months I send family (in town and OOT) a letter of what LO is doing and new pictures.  I know MY fam wouldn't think it is odd, but I have done this with all 3 kids.

    That, and not everyone has a high quality printer where they can print out a picture of DD. Who knows, maybe they want it on their fridge for a while.

    That makes sense, I didn't think of that.  I think a card with a collage of pictures would be cute.

    I almost did that. I think it's a great idea! My only concern was - I didn't want people to think I was fishing for presents or anything. KWIM?
