no, but is she having it done with catheters? I think that's the typical way and, if so, DS has had a few cardiac procedures in the cath lab and he hasn't seemed to have any discomfort following. the worst part was just the grogginess from the anesthesia. for a 4 year old, I don't think I'd tell her until maybe the day before and then just be clear but age appropriate (not a lot of details about the procedure but let her know the doctors are going to help her and give her the basics of when you'll go to the hospital, how long she'll be there, where you'll be, etc). let her pick out a favorite toy/book/blanket to bring for the recovery period. I hope everything goes smoothly!

You might check with your hospital. My nephew has tetrology of fallot, and they have a wonderful "child life specialist" at the hospital he goes to who does a wonderful job of explaining things to young children.
