I just wanted to let yall know that we took Tatum to get her ears pierced Friday. She was a trooper!!! She only cried a few min and it was over and she looks GREAT!
My mom called and said "okay, I have to ask, why did you get her ears pierced. Don't you think it should be her decision?" I replied...I've never met a girl that didn't want to have her ears pierced and if she doesn't want them, she can take them out and let them grow back. But for now, I'm her mom and I get to decide things like that." She just replied with "okay". lol It felt good to be able to say that to her!
Re: Ears pierced
Glad you stood up to your mom.
On a different note, I never understood piercing babies ears. Do they have different earrings they wear specifically for their age? I would be concerned about the post in the back as well as them potentially pulling them out.
Normal 0
The piercing studs have locking backs and the babies generally can?t pull them out.
There is a locking back that is hard to get the back off but that is just on the studs that they use to pierce with. That sucker is on there so tight that I needed a pair of pliers to get it off the one side. Also, if you use regular posts, there is a rubber back that you can put on oafter you put the back on so that it doesn't poke LO in the head while she is lying on her side.
DD is 4.5 years old and we have had them done since she was about 8 months old. I have never had a problem with them.... other than losing them every now and then. I learned very quickly to stick with the cheaper ones for now.
This. I never understood it. It's not for her at this age, it's for your viewing pleasure. However standing up to your mother takes balls so good for you.
Sofie will decide whether she wants it done or not. 4-5 years old seems to be the normal age in my family for ears to be pierced and there's no reason for her to have them before that so we'll wait. I myself love piercings and have several but she might have no desire for them.
Standing up to mom always takes balls though. My mom kept pushing sugar water and cereal in my expressed milk on me until I just flat out told her no. It's tough! So good for you for that.
I would never do it, I would never put my child in pain on purpose.
This. I just don't think little babies need accessories. They are so stinkin cute on their own.
Pretty sure the bows, the tutus, and her "Born to sparkle" onesie is enough bling for 20 babies.
toddlers and tiaras
or in this case...babies and bows.
I think she needs one of these too.

LOL!!!
Wow...I didn't realize this would get so snarky! I'm sorry, but I love to play "dress up" with my daughter and take pictures. I don't understand why this is so wrong in your eyes.
I will put mbgp on and deal with this! Like I told my mom...it's my daughter and I can do what I want with her!
And no, I will never subject my daughter to any of those pagents!
Really? Do you know me that well to make that assumption? No one, let alone a stranger that knows nothing about me other than I dress her up cute and have her ears pierced. You seriously make me laugh!
I actually feel sorry for you that your so miserable you have to come on to a message board and make crazy assumptions about total strangers!
Have a great day!

I am thinking this is probably where she got it from...
What?
The assumption that you speak of..you asked where she got the assumption that you like to dress you DD up.
I think I have made it clear that I wouldn't pierce DD's ears, or put big bows in her hair, but I feel the need to add that I think your DD is darling. (even if the clothes and earrings are NMS)
Thank you!
I was the first to post on this thread and the following posts are hilarious! I have NEVER EVER heard such attitude on this board before, I'm a little shocked! I don't let DD leave the house without a bow in her hair, and like I said, after her 2nd tetanus I'll be piercing her ears.
I wouldn't say I necessarily "dress her up" to take pics or what not but I loooove putting her in all her clothes that have been sitting in the closet for months.
Your daughter is a doll! And hey PM me where you buy your bows
((sticks tongue out at all the negative posts))
