Is Jane the new Marie?

Seems like there always are certain names that get plugged into the middle name slot ... like Marie, Ann, and Lynn from my generation.

I see a lot of FN Jane and FN Grace. Are Jane and Grace going to be as ubiquitous as I think they are going to be?

Maybe. I think Rose, Claire and Grace are falling into that category.

Glad you mentioned Grace. I opened this just to say I think that comes in way ahead of Jane. I also actually know a newborn and a baby due in May who have the middle name Lynn. I was surprised both times. I didn't really realize it was still being used so much. I also think my middle name, Dawn, fits int he prior generation slot with Lynn, Marie, etc. :P

Rose, Grace and Elizabeth are the main filler names now IMO. Same with Anne. Jane is used a little less commonly.

I'd say Marie is just as popular as it ever was.

Rose, Jane and Anne are all MNs I've been hearing a LOT in the last year or so.

I think you do see those a lot. We always used a family name for the MN. My MN is Lynn so if it goes well with the first name we pick and we have another girl, she may end up with that MN. I tend to like Elizabeth for a mn...it goes well with a lot of names I like.
